Depth in the defensive secondary just took a hit.
Why is Terrell Chestnut the backup boundary cornerback? Holgorsen says Brodrick Jenkins has left the team.

Cornerback Brodrick Jenkins, who was a starter a year ago but relegated to backup status this season, has left the team according to Coach Dana Holgorsen in his weekly press conference. No further explanation was given. As you can see from the tweet above, Terrell Chestnut will slide into Jenkins' position on the depth chart.
Whether or not Jenkins was unsatisfied with playing time is hard to discern at this point. He didn't see any playing time this past week against Georgia State. As recently as fall camp, Jenkins knew there was more talent around at his position and would have to fight for playing time. In an August Metronews article, he was very complimentary of his playing time competition. That same article made mention of a knee injury that was still bothering him at the time.
Jenkins' departure leaves five scholarship cornerbacks on the roster.
