Spring Football Game Thread: West Virginia Mountaineers vs. West Virginia Mountaineers

New coaches, new players, new uniforms and a new Smoking Musket event to cover today.

US PRESSWIRE

Today marks the end of the spring football practice sessions and the annual intra-squad scrimmage known as the Gold/Blue Game.

For those of you not able to attend, WV Media will be broadcasting the game live starting at 2 pm ET on:

  • WBOY in Clarksburg/Fairmont/Morgantown area
  • WOWK in the Charleston/Huntington area
  • WVNS in the Beckley/Bluefield area
  • WTRF in the Wheeling area
  • WJAL in the eastern panhandle

This will be the first glace at what all indications are pointing to a rebuilding year for the Mountaineers. For the first time since 2005, there is real uncertainty as to who the starting quarterback will be. Also gone are the two most prolific pass catchers in WVU history and new players must step up and take the proverbial bull by the horns (insert Texas joke here).

New coaches abound on the West Virginia staff this season as well. The WVU defense is being rebuilt with a new coordinator taking the reins and several new and old faces now pace the sidelines on both sides of the ball.

New uniforms are scheduled to be revealed and we will do our best to post pictures as quickly as possible.

We also have the first Smoking Musket Combine taking place today in the tailgating lots. We will be taking 40 times for several staff members and contributors. Only these 40's will be ouncers and not yards. There are sure to be other (as yet to be determined) events and we'll try to post the results in the comments section below as they happen (because TECHNOLOGY).

So, find a comfortable spot, grab your favorite beverage or threeve, and join in on the running commentary, random observations, silly images, snark, wit, bitches, complaints, moans, groans, cheers, celebration and jubilation in the comments section below.

And, as always...
