In a statement released by WVUSports.com, three members of the WVU men's basketball team have requested and granted their release from the program by head Coach Bob Huggins. Sophomore guards Jabarie Hinds and Aaron Brown, as well as Ukrainian sophomore forward Volodymyr Gerun will seek other opportunities to further their basketball careers elsewhere.
Before today's announcement, Coach Huggins already had four commitments for the incoming recruiting class, despite only losing three players to graduation/eligibility limits. With the frustrating 13-19 record that the Mountaineers claimed this past season, it was inevitable that more player attrition was going to occur.
Brown's departure has been highly speculated through the latter parts of a season where he saw very little playing time and has now been confirmed. Gerun also played just sparingly during his only season with WVU.
Jabarie Hinds' departure is the first real surprise of the offseason.
We wish them well in their future endeavors.
