What was intended as a secret communication between New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan and Mike Smith about his return to the Jets has become public.* It's not pretty and we wouldn't blame you if you looked away. It's just not the sort of thing you see every day.
But who are we to judge? Money and women are our vices. We're just rather fortunate that most of society agrees with us. The timing of the move isn't ideal for West Virginia as fans are growing more and more concerned about the defensive staff situation. But it didn't come at a time that would hurt this year's recruiting class. So we shouldn't hate on the guy too much. He at least waited until after signing day was mostly wrapped up.
*None of this is true. We actually have no ill will toward Mike Smith. But this seemed like too good an opportunity to pass up. There could be a million reasons for this move back that doesn't involve feet. Some guys are just meant for the NFL and some are just meant for college.
