Welcome, By-Godders, to the Shotgun/Throwdown, WVU's nationally recognized best place for sports links, information, sophomoric humor and daily distractions. We're being brought to you today by Royal Dutch Post Horn, in honor of today's Miss Throwdown.

LSU week is now fully behind us and now the attention is turned to Bowling Green. Have the Falcons taken what was predicted to be Maryland's place as the proverbial trap game on the schedule? If you're not aware, Bowling Green is scoring points and racking up yards by the bunches. WVU must regain focus and not let the LSU loss linger anymore than it already has.

Today's coverage features lots of love for Geno along with receivers Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey. There's plenty inside, as usual...

Loss to LSU should be wakeup call for WVU - Charleston Daily Mail
Yet understand that was a game that got away from WVU, too. It was in doubt just twice, first when it was 0-0 and then when the LSU found itself ahead just 27-21. The Tigers controlled the time immediately after both.

Offense proved a lot against LSU - Daily Athenaeum
There were a lot of bad things that could be taken from No. 22 West Virginia’s 47-21 loss to No. 1 LSU Saturday - four turnovers, missed tackles and twice as many penalties as LSU. But there was a lot of good that came from the game, especially concerning the offense.

Strides To Be Made - BGN
Geno Smith set school records in several passing categories on Saturday against LSU’s vaunted defense, including yardage in a single game. That’s an impressive enough feat, given the opponent. But what should truly concern WVU’s opponents -- starting this week with Bowling Green -- is that Dana Holgorsen insists the quarterback can get better still.
