The Shotgun/Throwdown: Rutgers Hangovers (2/28/11) Edition

Welcome, By-Godders, to the Shotgun/Throwdown, WVU's nationally recognized best place for sports links, information, sophomoric humor and daily distractions. We're being brought to you today by Club Colombia, in honor of today's Miss Throwdown.

Both the men and women faced near must-win contests on the road at Rutgers over the weekend and only the men succeeded. As others have pointed out, the win didn't help so much as the loss would have hurt. Now the women are in desperation mode. A team picked to finish 2nd in the league, is now fighting for 9th. Don't get me wrong, these senior women have been successful over their careers, just not as successful as everyone hoped for this season. They will attempt to get back on the winning track tonight as they host St. John's in their final regular season game at the Coliseum. All of the coverage I could dig up from the weekend's action is inside, along with some breakdowns of the recently released football schedule, some basketball features and some nice features on a couple of former Mountaineer players.
