The Shotgun/Throwdown: Wednesday (2/23/11) Edition

Welcome, By-Godders, to the Shotgun/Throwdown, WVU's nationally recognized best place for sports links, information, sophomoric humor and daily distractions. We're being brought to you today by Alivariya, in honor of today's Miss Throwdown.

Another game and another loss by the WVU women, who have struggled mightily to get W's this year against what most consider solid competition. Plenty of coverage of last night's loss is inside, for what it's worth. On the other side of the gender coin, the men are in preparation for their second edition of the Backyard Brawl tomorrow. There's also more on the scheduling of Kansas State next year and news of the Basketball Practice Facility. Of course the biggest news is from around the league with the (light?) penalty handed down to UConn, and more specifically Jim Calhoun.

If you have any tips, suggestions or requests for content that you think is worth sharing, you can send them to me by email or Twitter and don't forget to "LIKE" the Smoking Musket MAIN PAGE on Facebook (follow this link, then hit "LIKE" at the top of the page). Many thanks to those who already "LIKE" us. We now stand at 667. 700 is looming in the distance, but it's in sight. Please, spread the word!! Time for the jump...
