Last night, the Mountaineers managed to hold off Missouri State despite allowing them to shoot almost 54% for the game. Gary Browne was one of four Mountaineers to score in double figures last night, but he hit what was one of the most important shots of the game when he connected from 3 with only 2 seconds remaining in the second half. While draped with several Missouri State defenders, Browne's three pointer tied the game and sent it into overtime where the Mountaineers were able to secure Coach Huggins' 700 career coaching victory.
It was a game that WVU perhaps didn't deserve to win, but the Mountaineers will take it with only 7th ranked Baylor remaining on the schedule before Big East play opens up next week. For hitting that clutch shot that enabled WVU to stretch the game a bit longer and win a milestone for Huggs, Gary Browne is The Smoking Musket Most Awesome Player Of the Game.
