Well I'll be damned. We started fast on offense and had a ton of defensive intensity. Granted, it did not last the entire game but that is somewhat excusable considering we were playing lowly DePaul.
Speaking of lowly DePaul, they are dirty. There were multiple times where DePaul players attempted to get a WVU player to react and pick up a personal or technical foul. They would bump, grab and get in our players faces after the play was over. The refs finally had enough when they ejected Krys "Jersey Shore" Faber for his intentional elbow.
Back to our team's performance. Early on "The Gentleman" Wellington Smith was looking like a shoo-in for MAPOG. He hit some early 3's and managed to stay out of foul trouble. In the end it was not meant to be.
Devin Ebanks, on the other hand, struggled at times to make shots but played 38 minutes of tough defense. Despite missing shots, that tough defense will keep him in Huggs good graces and on the floor. Being on the floor, in the flow of the game, is the best way a player can come out of his funk.
Devin finished with 14 points and one rebound shy of a double-double. Congrats, Mr. Ebanks you are the Most Awesome Player of the Game!
Also, I want to give a shout out to the USC Gamecoks and Devan Downey on the huge win over #1 Kentucky last night. That should get me some brownie points.
