Jonathan Scott Picks The Mountaineers

The almost dazzling (and puzzling?) recruiting haul of 2009 continued last night as Jonathan Scott, a 6'4" safety prospect out of Seabreeze (FL) High School made West Virginia University his choice. Scott (obviously) turned away offers from the likes of Alabama, Florida State, Michigan, Auburn, and Clemson

Suddenly, our secondary, which once looked like a soft spot going forward, has a ton of His commitment (see his Rivals profile here), alongside that of Michael Carter, will push for immediate time in a unit that already has sure starters in Brandon Hogan and Sidney Glover. At at 6'4", he brings even more size (seriously, eXtenze really works) to a Puskar Center that is struggling to contain Robert Sands.

This brings the total number of commitments in the Class of 2009 to 22 (23 if you count Tevita Finau), and almost none this class seem like a reach. That is a real testament to a talented recruiting staff that is coming off a "disappointing" nine win season. With about two weeks until signing day, this surely doesn't look to be the last of the major gets for this squad. Names like Mason, Lartey, Robinson, Glaud, and Webster still linger.

Here's thinking we get at least three of that group.
