Waiting for the Fall: A Decade of Dreams, Drama and West Virginia University Football. I wish he would have let me design the cover.

WV Illustrated is reporting that newly hired defensive coach, Mike Smith is leaving the team to return to the New York Jets. This is certainly a setback. But it could come at a worse time. Like yesterday or the day before. No timetable is in place to complete the defensive staff.

If you remember, back in July, I took a shot at predicting the spreads for all of WVU's games this season. Needless to say, I pretty much nailed this one.

The New York Yankees select Patrick White, quarterback center fielder, West Virginia University. On one hand, it makes sense for the "greatest winner in college football today" to be drafted by the winningest professional sports franchise in United States history. On the other hand, WTF?!? You would think that after watching the Angels (twice) and Reds waste picks on him only to be spurned for football, the Yankees would have learned their lesson. Then again, it's the Yankees, and they never learn their lesson. On a side note, congrats to Tobias Streich and Vince Belnome, who were drafted by the Twins and Padres, respectively.

West Virginia football will play host to UNLV in 2010. Hmm, what's more attractive: a home and home with Marshall or UNLV?
