Game Thread: West Virginia Mountaineers @ Providence Friars
After almost a full week's break (a much needed one, so it seems), Huggs has the men back in action today on the road at Providence College to take on the Friars. As Chuck noted Friday, this break couldn't have come at a better time as West Virginia's current 3 game losing streak is the longest since Huggs came home to his alma mater. The Mountaineers, and all of us for that matter, hope it doesn't get any longer.
Televised coverage is being provided by ESPN3 and the Big East Network, which includes MASN, SNY and others, at noon. So, before the Super Bowl parties commence, sit back, relax, grab yourself an early favorite beverage or 11 and join us in running commentary, random observations, snark, wit, funny pictures, hopes, fears, cheers and jeers in the comments section.

Game Thread: West Virginia Mountaineers vs. Pittsburgh Panthers
With the current losing streak dropping WVU to a paltry 5-4 in league play, tonight's hoops edition of the Backyard Brawl against Pitt has essentially become a must win game for the Mountaineers. First of all, it would get them off the schneid and hopefully gain some positive momentum heading into the second half of the Big East slate. Pitt enters the game on a roll, now that they have Woodall back to full speed. Do KJ and the boys have enough to counter? We shall see.
Televised coverage of the game begins at 7 pm EST on ESPN as part of the Big Monday lineup. So, sit back, relax, prop up the feet and grab a beverage or 11 and join us in running commentary, random observations, snark, wit, hopes, fears, cheers and jeers in the comments as we root on the Mountaineers in the latest edition of the Backyard Brawl.

Game Thread: West Virginia Mountaineers @ Syracuse Orange
This afternoon, Huggs and the men continue their Empire State road trip with a visit to the Carrier Dome to take on the Syracuse Orange. Oh, the Syracuse Orange...that school in upstate New York that has had the Mountianeers' number of late on both the gridiron and for an extended time on the hardcourt. The last time either of WVU teams came away with a victory against the Orange was October 2009 on the football field. In fact, since WVU joined the Big East, the Mountaineers have only beaten them 5 times in basketball. Now today, against one of the best teams in the nation today, the Mountaineers will try to end this schneid against the Orange.
Televised coverage begins at 1 pm EST on ESPNU and ESPN3 (<-direct link). So, sit back, relax, grab yourself your favorite beverage or 11 and join in the running commentary, random observations, snark, wit, hopes, fears and jeers in the comments section. Let's end this streak.

Game Thread: West Virginia Mountaineers @ St. John's Red Storm
WVU is trying to get back into a New York/Empire State of Mind (depending on your age bracket) for the next two road games that begin tonight at the Madison Square Garden when the Mountaineers face the St. John's Red Storm. Both teams are decidedly young, but are having quite the opposite results on the floor. Coaching is the easiest thing to point to as, obviously, WVU has Coach Huggings, but the Johnnies have been doing without their head coach Steve Lavin for the better part of the season while he undergoes cancer treatments. We all wish him well in his battle and hope to see him back on the court soon.
Televised coverage is being provided by ESPNU tonight at 7 pm EST. So...find yourself a good comfortable spot, sit back, relax with your favorite beverage or 11 and join in the running commentary, random observations, snark, wit, dumb comments, hopes, fears, cheers and jeers in our comments section.

Game Thread: West Virginia Mountaineers vs. Cincinnati Bearcats
Now that the Capital Classic is in the books, it's nothing but Big East opponents for the remainder of the regular season for WVU. Today, Mick Cronin brings his Bearcats into the Coliseum to take on his old mentor, Bob Huggins, and the Mountaineers. The Bearcats are sitting alone in second place in the Big East standings and come into this game on quite a roll with only a loss to St. John's marring their record since the melee with Xavier. WVU also comes into this game riding a wave of confidence after dispatching decent Rutgers and Marshall teams in convincing fashion and knowing that they could/should have won the game at UConn. One thing going against the Mountaineers is that they look to still be without the services of Deniz Kilicli. Kevin Noreen filled in nicely last time out and will need to again if WVU wants to continue their climb in the Big East standings.
Televised coverage is being provided by ESPNU at 3 pm EST today for the sold out game. The football recruits should get a nice show with a capacity crowd (assuming the weather doesn't keep too many from attending) on hand to watch the game and honor the 2012 Orange Bowl Champion's at halftime.

Game Thread: West Virginia Mountaineers vs. Moo U
Huggs has the men back in the Capital City tonight as they take on that other team from the western border of the state. As Chuck mentioned earlier today, both teams enter tonight with 13 victories. Tom Herrion's team is a vastly improved version over the version from last year that beat WVU. How WVU handles their inside presence could be the dominating storyline of tonight's game. Compound that with rumors that the big Turk, Deniz Kilicli, may not play tonight and the Mountaineers could be in for a long night.
Television coverage begins at 7:30 pm and is being provided by the "Capital Classic Network" which means a bunch of stations from around West By God will be showing the game, plus at least one in Central PA (WJAL, over the air Ch. 68, in Chambersburg) that will help those of us in the EP and the surrounding region. For anyone out of the region, ESPN3 is your best bet. So, find yourself a warm, comfortable spot, prop up your feet, grab your favorite beverage or 11 and join in the running commentary, random observations, snark, wit, hopes, fears, cheers and jeers in the comments section.

Game Thread: West Virginia Mountaineers vs. Rutger Scarlet Knights
The Mountaineers are back in action today after dropping a game they should have won after having it in control Monday night. Today the Scarlet Knights visit the Coliseum fresh off a victory over Pitt this past Wednesday where they held the Panthers to 39 points. Rutgers has an impressive list of victories to their resume so far this year including Pitt (despite their woes so far this year), UConn and Florida. Of course, this is also the team that WVU blew out when they visited NJ last week. Which Rutgers team will show up today? More importantly, which WVU team will show up? The one that made Rutgers look like Rutgers, or the one that collapsed under the pressure at UConn on Monday?
Televised coverage begins at 2 pm this afternoon on MASN, SNY, ESPN Full Court and ESPN3. So, find yourself a warm, comfortable spot, grab your favorite beverage or 11 and share your running commentary, random observations, snark, wit, hopes, fears, cheers and jeers in the comments section below.

Game Thread: West Virginia Mountaineers @ (9) Connecticut Huskies
Tonight, Huggs leads the men on the road against the UConn Huskies, a team that WVU has never beaten on the road (once in the BET, but never at their place). The Huskies are sure to be fired up after dropping a decision over the weekend to Rutgers, a team WVU manhandled less than a week ago. Some players say there is a leadership void on the Husky team, a notion Jim Calhoun denied vehemently.
ESPN2 and 3 has your televised coverage this evening, beginning at 7 pm. So, get your fill of the Mountaineer hoops squad before you settle in to watch Bama and LSU duke it out (if you're watching that one at all). Find your favorite comfortable spot, prop your feet up, grab your favorite beverage or 11 and join us for running commentary, random observations, snark, wit, hopes, fears, cheers and jeers in the comments section.
