It's that most urgent time of year. Win or go home. Huggs has taken this young team to the promised land of the NCAA Tournament. Yep, for the 5th straight year, the Mountaineers are going dancing. Now the question is how many more times do we get to root on Kevin Jones, the heart and soul of this team. Will the freshman put to use the experience of a long grind in the Big East and step up to the challenge that awaits them on this, the national stage?

Coach Huggins and the WVU Mountaineer Men's Basketball team begin their final Big East Tournament run today against Jim Calhoun and his UConn Huskies in second round action at noon from the "Most Famous Arena In The World." The Garden has been pretty good to the Mountaineers over the years and it will be a shame to not have this tournament to look forward to each year. As I said before, missing this tournament is the only thing I'll miss about the Big East.

ESPN has the television coverage today, beginning at noon. ESPN3 is also providing coverage. If you can get away from work and out to a sports bar and grille, I envy you, as I will be unable to watch while stuck at work. For those of you able to watch, the rest of us would really appreciate as many comments/updates as you can muster in today's thread. Let's blow out of this conference on a high note.

The final regular season comes down to a must-win win game on the road against the USF Bulls. Sound familiar? It should, because it mirrors the situation the football team was in just a couple months ago. That scenario turned out pretty good for the football Mountaineers and they used that to propel them on to a memorable and historic Orange Bowl victory. Can the basketball team pull off the same feat in the same circumstance? We're about to find out.

Despite all of the recent struggles, we certainly thank them both for their time and dedication to the Mountaineer basketball program. The backs are against the wall and there's no room for error anymore (if there was any before).

With only three games remaining on the schedule for the Mountaineers before the conference tournament, WVU is definitely in "must win" mode if they want to assure another trip to the big dance. Tonight's contest would only be tougher if it were on the road instead of at the Coliseum. The Mountaineers certainly have their backs against the wall and they better respond tonight if the NCAA streak is to remain intact under Huggs. Can KJ get some help? Will the other 2 upperclassmen offer enough support? Will any of the freshmen step up?

One ray of hope for the Mountaineers is that those games have all been close and winnable, save one. A loss tonight puts WVU in the position of likely having to win out in the regular season (or do big things in the BET) to get an NCAA bid. Well, one more for the road (at least for the foreseeable future)....

Rick Pitino brings his Cardinals into the Coliseum today for another (the last time?) tilt on the hardwood. After some early/mid-season struggles, Louisville has seemed to have figured things out and enter this game on a roll having dumped UConn earlier in the week and fairly well rested (kind of reminds you of Notre Dame, in that regard, doesn't it?). WVU on the other hand has just lost said heartbreaker to Notre Dame, and has lost 4 of the last five. Despite the down turn, the Mountaineers were in all but one of those games and could have won, maybe should have won several of them. This series has always had entertaining/close games and today definitely has the potential for another good one.

They've already notched impressive wins over Syracuse and Marquette during this current streak and they would like nothing more than to keep it alive by knocking off West Virginia tonight. Most of the hype from the WVU side of things is centered around Kevin Jones and his consecutive games streak of scoring 20 points or more. So far, he has 9 straight and a 10th would tie him with two Mountaineer legends, Hot Rod Hundley and Jerry West. But if Coach Huggins' squad is to come away with a much needed victory, KJ will need supporting games from his teammates like the ones contributed by Truck and the Turk on Sunday.
