Akheem Mesidor off to strong start in first season at WVU
A name that you will become familiar with throughout the season will be Akheem Mesidor. Mesidor is a true freshman, and immediately making a name for himself on the field. Mesidor, an Ottawa, Ontario native, has played in the first three games of the season. He earned his first career start last Saturday against Baylor. In that game, Mesidor recorded four total tackles and one sack. On the season, he now has nine total tackles.
Brown says Baylor game a turning point only if momentum can continue
West Virginia will be heavily favored to improve 3-1 next Saturday afternoon when the Mountaineers host Kansas. The game will also be the first home game that Mountaineer fans can attend this season. WVU successfully, although anxiously, cleared a swing game in their schedule last Saturday in a 27-21 double overtime win over Baylor. Head coach Neal Brown thinks the game could be a benchmark in the evolution of his program.

In the middle of West Virginia’s second bye week of the season, WVU head coach Neal Brown appeared as a guest on MetroNews Talkline Wednesday morning. Even though Baylor is not highly regarded as a top contender for the Big 12 title, Brown has not forgotten what the Bears accomplished a year ago. Coach Brown also hasn’t forgotten who was popular in the music industry when he got his first car.

Adams Ranks No. 1 in WIN Preseason Rankings
As the NCAA awaits to announce when the Division I college wrestling season will take place, redshirt junior Noah Adams of the West Virginia wrestling team has earned the # 1 ranking at 197 pounds in WIN Magazine’s 2020-21 National Preseason Individual Rankings. Adams, a native of Coal City, West Virginia, was crowned a Big 12 Champion at 197 pounds a year ago, completing the 2019 season with a 32-0 overall record.
Brewster Named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week
Junior defender Jordan Brewster of the #9 West Virginia women’s soccer team has been named the Big 12 Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Brewster scored a goal and anchored a solid defensive effort in the Mountaineers’ 2-1 win over Texas. The goal was her first of the season.
WVU ranks No. 9 in latest women’s soccer poll
The West Virginia women’s soccer team ranks #9 in this week’s United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women’s National Poll. Following a 2-1 win over Texas, the Mountaineers are 3-1 this season and are down two spots from last week’s rankings, but still sit in the nation’s top 10 for the third consecutive week to begin the season.

In Week 4 of the 2020 NFL Season, nine former Mountaineers saw action. Kyzir White led the Chargers in total tackles with eight in a loss to the Buccaneers. Quinton Spain helped his quarterback, Josh Allen, throw for 288 yards and two touchdowns in the Bills’ win over the Raiders.
