Welcome, By-Godders, to the Shotgun Throwdown, your one stop shop for the latest WVU news and information, sophomoric humor and daily distractions.
This Spring may be the quietest leading up to the annual Spring game that I can remember from recent years. There’s nothing really crazy happening, and everything seems to be going as well as expected. So, until we have something that’s worth talking about, I’ll be doing quick hit links.
Quick Hits:
Quarterback Will Grier has the arm, experience to move WVU | Charleston Gazette-Mail
A season ago, Will Grier was the quarterback on West Virginia’s scout team. Every week, he’d lead the group charged with mimicking the opponent’s offense in practice, and all at once, he’d give defensive coordinator Tony Gibson cause to be concerned and then incentive to be confident. Shift from the fall to this spring. Gibson is beginning his fourth season as the defensive coordinator, and Grier, now practicing with the regulars, is still giving Gibson fits.
Douglas Likely To Be First WVU Player Drafted | WVU Athletics
Based on what you read and hear, Rasul Douglas’ name could be the first called among West Virginia’s players available for the 2017 NFL Draft when it takes place April 27-29 in Philadelphia.
Report: WVU OL Marcell Lazard Transfers To Boston College | BC Interruption
Looks like Marcell Lazard has decided to leave West Virginia for...Boston College? To each their own, but put this one down in the WTF category.
West Virginia football continues to seek out reliable JUCO transfers | Charleston Gazette-Mail
Since the arrival of Dana Holgorsen in Morgantown, West Virginia’s recruiting classes have been a blend of traditional high school prospects and junior college recruits. The goal being, of course, to find guys ready and able to fill holes for the upcoming season instead of throwing freshmen into the fire a la those early years when the defense was so horrid. So who are some of the big-time players at major areas of need for the 2018 class? Well, that’s just getting started, but a few positions — and a couple elite recruits — are already emerging.

PAWWWWWWWLLLLLLLLLLLL
It’s Music Monday, and I want to start with a song I heard on SiriusXM on my way to D.C. this weekend, and it kinda blew me away.
That’s one of the guys from One Direction, and it’s a very non-One Direction song. It’s like a cross between a bunch of different British rock artists and Lana Del Rey, and I think I may be a fan of it.
The dude is in a movie that’s coming out this Summer that looks like it may be okay too. I’d say he probably came out better than the other guys in the band.
If an ex-One Directioner isn’t your thing, perhaps you’ll like the new single by Incubus.
That video is like a bad acid trip, but it’s nice to have Incubus back.
Today’s Miss Throwdown is an Australian model, and another one of those girls who got famous on Instagram. I’m not exactly sure what else she has done that’s notable, but go give Gabby Epstein a follow and make her more famous, I guess. The content is pretty good.
