Defensive end Jaleel Fields will be a West Virginia Mountaineer. The 6'-2" 290 pound defensive end out of Aliquippa High in Aliquippa, PA has signed his letter of intent and made his college destination official.
Fields is listed as a 3-star prospect by 247Sports, a 2-star prospect by Rivals and a 3-star by Scout, but no matter how many stars are next to his name he'll be a welcome addition to a defensive line looking to add depth after seeing production fall as a casualty of personnel attrition in the second half of last season.
The graduating high school senior gave a solid verbal commitment back in mid-December and was recruited chiefly by Tony Gibson - no shock given his home region. He is one of two prospects from his high school team to sign with the Mountaineers, the other being highly-touted 4 star DB Dravon Henry. Fields also had offers from Cincinnati and Purdue.
