Confirming what has been rumored in the Twitter-verse through the day, West Virginia Head Coach Dana Holgorsen announced on his weekly radio show that Clint Trickett will start Saturday against the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
Coach Holgorsen stated that it wasn't a performance issue with Ford Childress, who had started the previous two games. He's suffering from an injury issue with a pectoral muscle. Childress has been unable to practice this week and due to his overall inexperience, even if he were to feel OK by Saturday, Holgorsen said that he just wasn't comfortable playing an inexperienced quarterback who wasn't able to practice and prepare fully.
Now the reins have been handed for the time to Florida State transfer Clint Trickett. Holgorsen said that Trickett and former starter Millard have been splitting reps all week, but felt that Trickett was the one who deserved to start the game. He also sounded a bit non-committal on whether he would stick with Trickett through the game and that Paul Millard should still be prepared to play if Trickett struggles.
