Welp, that ending sucked.
Alright, so before we go jumping out the window, let's go over what actually happened. WVU had a good first half and outrebounded BU all game long. Huggins started off with Staten, Harris, Humphrey, Murray, and Kilicli along with kicking out the 1-3-1 early. First twelve minutes were pretty close with both teams at 17 and feeling each other out. The WVU Coliseum was pretty lackadaisical along with all the build up to the game, so the energy around the place felt low. After the 8 minute mark TV timeout, the Mountaineers were able to string a nice run together coming from Terry, 3ron, and Staten. After the small WVU barrage, the good guys were ahead 30-21 with three minutes and some change to force a Baylor TO. At the end of the half, the lead was cut to five at 34-29, but still, it was looking alright. None of us were hugely optimistic going into the game, so having a lead at halftime was pretty much what we all could ask for.
Of course, just like everything else good in this season, this lead couldn't be contained. First ten minutes of the half was ugly to watch with nothing much happening other than Baylor chipping the small lead of five to now just one, 48-47 WVU. After a Baylor timeout, the Bears jumped out getting their own five point lead (and never lost it.) The final eight minutes were tense with some decent basketball being played. While Eron Harris ended the game with 25 points, a significant amount of hustle was being put out on the floor by Kevin Noreen.

The sweat equity was paying off by keeping the Mountaineers in the game including an enormous offensive rebound with 30 seconds to go while down by one. Noreen's rebound gave the Eers another shot at taking the lead.... Harris missed the three. Baylor goes down, hits two free throws to put themselves up by three with 18 ticks left. Then, something happened.
The designed play was supposedly a pick-and-pop from Juwan Staten to Kevin Noreen. The play was blown and, due to there not being enough time left on the clock, Staten jacks up a jumper that gets tipped. Ball rebounded by a Baylor Bear with two seconds and time runs out. This is not the optimal decision considering, well....
