Tailgate Recipe of the Week:

Sloppy Drunk Joes


  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup green pepper, chopped
  • 1/4 cup red pepper, chopped
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup 101-proof Wild Turkey Rye (or 81 proof if 101 is unavailable)
  • 1 teaspoon prepared yellow mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • salt/pepper to taste
  • 1 can Grands biscuits
  • 1/2 cup cheddard cheese


  1. In medium skillet, brown meat over medium heat.
  2. In another skillet, cook peppers and onions over medium heat.
  3. When ground beef is cooked, drain liquid and add peppers/onions
  4. Stir in ketchup, mustard, garlic powder, and brown sugar; mix thoroughly.
  5. Add Wild Turkey to skillet, mix thoroughly, reduce heat, and simmer for 25-30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  7. Flatten biscuit dough into 6-inch circles on ungreased cookie sheet.
  8. Add 1/3 cup meat, top with cheese, and fold into pocket.
  9. Bake for 14 minutes or until golden brown.
