US PRESSWIRE
WVIllustrated is reporting that Cleveland Heights, OH, wide receiver Shelton Gibson has given his verbal to the Mountaineers.
As first reported by Matt Allevato of WVIllustrated, the talented wideout will be spending his college years in Morgantown, where he will wear the Old Gold and Blue and catch passes from...well, from one of several talented quarterbacks either already on campus or possibly enrolling this summer. With offers from Ohio State, Auburn, Tennessee, Nebraska, Pitt and many other BCS schools, Gibson's services have been highly competed for. Assuming he makes it to campus---and there are no indications that he will have any trouble qualifying---he may be Holgorsen's most talented recruit to date. Finally our pass-happy offense is starting to pay dividends.
Gibson is a huge pickup for a Mountaineer offense in dire need of playmakers now that Stedman Bailey and Tavon Austin (and to a lesser extent, JD Woods) have moved on toward fulfilling their NFL dreams. He will join JUCO wideouts Kevin White and Ronald Carswell along with early enrollee Daikel Shorts in competing for immediate playing time this fall. Given this infusion of talent along with returning players like Jordan Thompson, Devonte Robinson, Devonte Mathis, KJ Myers, Dante Campbell, and Connor Arlia, the Mountaineer passing attack will have an entirely different look in 2013. Let's just hope the results share some resemblance, even if the players don't.
