As is the nature with these kind of things, there is now conflicting information regarding Kevin Sumlin's hiring of WVU quarterbacks coach Jake Spavital.
Well, what was first being tossed around as gospel now looks slightly more dubious, as FWAA writer Greg Madia has cited sources indicating that Jake Spavital has not yet been hired by Texas A&M.
That's not to say Spavital won't be hired, mind you. Just that his name has not been made official yet. There are background checks to be run and contract details to iron out before hires are announced by anyone. Just like there has been no official word from WVU that Gibby or Mitchell has been hired.
If the original report turns out to be false, we apologize. But the fact that Spavital's name is being bandied around for these types of positions is in itself newsworthy, and possibly indicates that his time in Morgantown will be short. It also shows how highly thought of he is in the college football world. Stay tuned as we will be sure to provide more definitive information when it's available.
