I came up with this idea a few weeks back, and wanted to save it, to see if we couldn't get it started against Baylor. This is our first BIG XII game, and I want our games from now on, in our house, that much harder for our opponents. Our crowd can be second to none, and Milan Puskar has the ability to be a very hard place for teams to win. But I have an idea to make it even harder for our opponents. I love nothing more then when a crowd can get into a players head, to see the noise cause a QB scramble to be heard over the crowd, have their offense go offsides, or even get mad they can't get a play off in time. That kind of mind game is really effective on a QB, and can be a contributing factor to multiple mistakes. With that being said, I ask all Mountaineers going to the game to join in, and help start this tradition. Some might call it a "Taunt," But I think it's just crowd participation getting into a player's head. It's not vulgar, and is nothing bad. It's a simple sing-songy chant that the crowd in unison chants directly at opposing QB's. Let's say Nick Florence get's sacked, after a big cheer from the crowd dies down initially, imagine 60,000 rabid Mountaineers chanting, "FLOR-ENCE!!! FLOR-ENCE!!!!" much to the tune of "Bull-shit" chants and "Score-Board". Imagine how hard that will be for a QB, where every sack, INT, or fumble the QB causes, 60,000+ start chanting his name. To me this isn't mean spirited, it's family friendly, and it gets the crowd involved in a way that can really disrupt a QB's performance, because now he's over-thinking his reads, he's hesitating or hurrying so as to not get sacked, or throw an INT and hear it again. That kind of atmosphere could strike fear into all of our Big XII opponents. "COL-IN" "CA-SEY" "LAND-RY" and "DAY-NE" let them know we aren't going to make it easy for them, and not in the nasty ways we've heard about before. Also, if you agree that this wold be great, please spread the word to other Mountaineers headed to the game and all the other home games. Let's get that crowd to make Mountaineer Field a place you're afraid to play at, because the crowd makes you make mistakes. Let's Goooooo!
