WVU Football Staff Complete?

Metronews, among others, is reporting that WVU will be hiring Keith Patterson to join the football staff. His previous stints were at Tulsa and Pitt as defensive coordinator under Todd Graham (and interim HC during their bowl game) and was recently hired by Gus Malzahn to run his defense at Arkansas St just last month, only to have leave for WVU it seems (sound familiar?). Malzahn had this to say:

"We appreciate everything Coach Patterson did for us while he was here and wish him the best," Red Wolves Coach Gus Malzahn. "We have already started a search to fill the open position on our coaching staff as we move forward." - ArkansasSports360

This, in conjunction with previously reported hire of Erik Slaughter, the DL coach from Stephen F. Austin, would complete the WVU football staff. There have still been no official announcements by Coach Holgorsen or WVU making the hires official.

What does everyone think of these guys?

I was hoping for more of a big name splash to pull in recruits…

WVU hires

A big name would be good but those guys are hard to find. I think a good recruiter is one that is honest with the kid and sells his program. Doesn’t have to be big name to be good. Some of the best recruiters are guys you never heard of.

One thing I have to say

Our coaching staff has some of the coolest names. Holgerson, Slaughter, Spatival… Patterson, not so much, but this guy doesn’t seem bad at all.

WVgoverment

I just read today where the WV Senate passed a law banning ownership of Exotic Animals?I guess that means we can finally deport ALL pitt panther fans

What are your

thoughts on this hire? Have no idea about this guy. I didn’t even realize he coached at Pitt.

I gotta say

that I’m not excited at all about him. He was DC at Tulsa & Pitt. Then he committed to Arkansas St. only to break that commitment 2 months later. 2 lackluster D’s and no loyalty. With any luck he’ll strictly be our Linebackers coach & not be CO-DC. I hope I’m completely wrong, but this guy does not give me a warm fuzzy feeling.
