National Signing Day: WR Deontay McManus Officially A West Virginia Mountaineer
Deontay McManus, a 6'1, 210 lbs wide receiver from Dunbar High School in Baltimore, Maryland, has committed to the West Virginia University Mountaineers, announcing the news and faxing in his National Letter of Intent on National Signing Day 2012. McManus, a 4-star prospect and the No. 33 ranked wide receiver by Scout.com, chose the Mountaineers over a slew of offers, including Alabama, Clemson, Michigan and Oregon.
McManus is probably the most high-profile recruit of the 2012 class, spurning national champion Alabama to pledge his services to Dana Holgorsen and the Mountaineers. There is little doubt that Holgy's reputation as an offensive genius has a lot to do with McManus landing in Morgantown. Although he's not the most physically imposing receiver, McManus is gifted in a variety of areas and should provide a steady all-around threat a la Stedman Bailey.
Welcome home, Deontay!
