Geno gets the national spotlight for the second week in a row.
Geno Smith will lead the West Virginia Mountaineers on the road for the first time this year against David Ash and the Texas Longhorns in the Davey O'Brien Marquee Match-up for week six, as chosen by fans on Facebook.
Throughout the season, the Davey O'Brien will highlight the fan-selected, best weekly quarterback match-up as the race for the oldest and most prestigious national quarterback award continues. Quarterbacks from all 124 NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision schools are eligible for the award until the field is narrowed to 16 semifinalists on Monday, Oct. 22.
Marquee Match-up: No. 8 West Virginia at No. 11 Texas
Saturday, October 6 at 6 p.m. (CT) on FOX
Two of the most potent passing offenses will go head-to-head Saturday night when Geno Smith guides the West Virginia Mountaineers (4-0, 1-0 Big 12) into Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium to face David Ash and the Texas Longhorns (4-0, 1-0).
Smith, a Miami, Fla. native, leads the nation in total offense (456.75 yards per game) and passing efficiency (208.37 rating), while a much-improved Ash comes in second with a rating of 184.03. The game should prove to be an offensive shootout as both teams look to establish a position atop the Big 12
