TSM Coaching Approval Meter: Post-Orange Bowl
For one last time, here as the 2011 football season comes to an end, we return once again to weigh in our opinion of Coach Dana Holgorsen and his football staff. There's really not a lot to criticize in the way of the Orange Bowl performance last night (but we will attempt to do so with our grades tomorrow). 70 is an awfully big number and like coach said, "You don't score 70 points by being good on offense."
Last Poll:
89% approval with 502 votes cast
2011 Statistics:
91% approval
6613 positive votes
676 negative votes
7289 votes cast
Here's how this poll works:
Do you approve of the job that the coaching staff is doing? Yes or No. No hedging, no gray areas, nothing in between. It's up to you use your own criteria. Are you judging the staff by the weekly team performance? Are you looking at the program as a whole? Do you take into consideration recruiting? Are you looking at national attention (good or bad)? As always, please explain your vote in the comments section.

Who's the Troll
that voted no? Please, I would love to hear your reasoning. There is no way in hell someone should vote no after that performance last night!

Yes
He obviously went about the business of bowl prep the correct way. The players were well prepared and played lights out. I remember everything just being flat and listless last year during the bowl. The difference is the man in charge.
Yes
Even Holgorsen’s hair was under control last night. Amazing how a well-played, team effort kept that headset on his head and the mad-scientist look out of the picture.
Yes
Our Mountaineers just rewrote the bowl record books, punched the ACC in the mouth and have everyone talking us up. Can we rename a county after Coach?
Curiosity killed the cat, but for a while I was a suspect.
I forgive you
You cats who jumped on the No train after LSU, Cuse, or Louvuhl. Welcome back.

Yes
We wondered all year what would happen if this team could put together a complete game – and now we know, and it is glorious. The future is bright.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
10 win season… Check
Big East Title… Check
BCS Game…. Check
Biggest ass whooping in Bowl history…. Check
Still says there is room for improvement… I love this guy!!!!!!!!!!
The fact that this poll only allows for 100% approval is a disservice. I give Holgs 1001% approval!!!!!!!!!
After last night, ever team in the FBS collectively sh*t their pants at the realization that THE MOUNTAINEERS ARE COMING!!!!! Last night we saw a sleeping giant awake… and now it’s hungry!!!!

4 votes for no?
Do we have some Pitt or Clemson spies on this blog?
OVERWHELMING YES, and I’ve voted yes ALL year.

If we can have some young players step up on defense next year
we will be a force. We have our entire offense returning and I know the Big 12 does not have very good defenses. We will be in some shootouts next year, thats for sure.
Hey, Holgo's got this exactly how I want them
You guys are doing well, but lost to us. I’m 100% in favor of WVU coaches who do that :). Now if only the Orange hadn’t decided the season ended when we beat you…
FWIW
ESPN folks were talking us up all afternoon. I forget who it was on Around the Horn who said that WVU is now a program – bigger than any one coach. I loved to hear that.

I would be interested in hearing from the people who voted “no” after last night. At least have the balls to defend you idiocy..

Congratulations
Seriously….while I was totally embaressed by the way our team played…I salute you. A great bunch of athletes doing what needed to be done to win a game, and done in style.
Thanks, man
Clemson really came out of the gates lit up. I think next year Clemson has another legitimate shot at the Orange Bowl.

Yeah, have to give credit where credit is due
I’m a Clemson grad, and that was a terribly disappointing effort by our team, but you guys played lights out. Best of luck next year in the Big 12. Damn shame you guys aren’t going to the SEC so we could both fight against the Ol’ Ball Coach. Congrats on the Orange Bowl championship.

Thanks a lot.
Best of luck to you all as well. Nothing but class from your fans the whole time I was in Miami.

Congratulations on a great win and welcome to the Big 12
Very impressive. WVU is certainly going to be a powerful team to face next year. Looking forward to what will surely be excellent games between WVU and Texas. Y’all are going to love Austin and I’m sure road trips to WVU will be awesome.
Congratulations again.
I voted Yes
and I will say, I have voted No in the past in some polls. I didn’t think the team was up for the games against Syracuse and Lousville, and had trouble in games against other Big East teams. I felt like he didn’t motivate his team and have them as prepared and ready to play as a HC should.
After last night…. well that’s entirely different. The team was up for the game and looked sharp. My concers with 2 minutes to go in the first half was, well they’ve been a one half team all year, so will this lead hold. Then the D and Clemson helped push that lead up to 29 and that was it.
I was exstatic with the way the team responded each time to Clemson in the early going. The fumble return, of course, was the game changer, and the consecutive turnovers were the backbreakers.
Give credit to the entire coaching staff, Holgs, and to the players for being prepared and playing to win all game. This win should pay dividends in the future with recruits and hopefully up the respect meter some for WVU.
