Mike Smith Hired to Football Staff
According to the report from WVi, this is looking like it's more official by the second. Smith comes to WVU via the NY Jets and looks to be the LB coach.

Absolutely unbelieveable...
if this is true! Mike Leach tried to lure him away from the Jets, so the Jets gave him a promotion to stay and coach their LB’s. If Holgs was able to pull him away from the Jets when Leach couldn’t……Wow! What an addition! Crossing my fingers.

I find it strange
That we didn’t hire a DC first and let him go after assistants to work under him.
It worries me that we are getting these names, but they might not get a long.
I've seen that
Kasey Dunn could be our final hire and will coach WR’s and move Roberts over to corners. If true I’m hoping Deforest and Dunlap will be Co-DC’s. I’ve seen a lot of people blowing up and saying its a sad day in Morgantown if this is all true because we didn’t get the big name. Honestly the big name guy (Shannon) isn’t going to be here long any way and who knows, you never know what DC will be available next year. I’m not worried and everything will be just fine.

The guy I wanted from all the names thrown out
was Brian Stewart, I didn’t feel Shannon would be a right fit and that he would rather be a HC. I knew Venables would be a long shot and would be too much $. I really didn’t want us to end up with Bradley either, yes he’s a great DC but he just doesn’t fit in with the guys we have. I truly believe we will hire a ex DC once we get more $ from our move to the Big XII. I didn’t think we had the cash to pull a big name with the lawsuit and everything. Plus we could possibly still be making Big East money this upcoming season. It’s just not the right time for us to pull in a big time DC.
