Steve Slaton was claimed by the Miami Dolphins today after getting cut by the Houston Texans yesterday.
The Dolphins leading rusher is Daniel Thomas who has 202 yards rushing and 0 TDs on the season. The Dolphins also have Reggie Bush on the roster.
This could be a good fit for Slaton. What are your thoughts?

Slaton Move...
Looks like a good opportunity, and Reggie Bush better wake up or the Dolphins will waive him and his two-year, $9.75-million salary. Slaton’s a bargain back-up at $550,00 per year.
Miami is a more enjoyable place to live than Houston anyway.

I'd rather see him in Philly....
reunited with Owen Schmitt.
Dana Perrino interviewed a Navy SEAL. After discussing all the countries he had been sent to, she asked if they had to learn several languages.
His reply: "Oh, no, ma'am. We don't go there to talk."
Slaton a Dolphin
As a Dolphins fan, this is a good pick-up. He should be able to contribute immediately. Bush was/is never going to be a three-down back. And like Bush, Slaton has good hands. I see a lot of bubble screens and short routes in Slaton’s future.
And Miami is a waaay better place to live than Houston!
timing is everything
i bet pat white could used him during his stint with the fins.
time to get the jersey. huzzah. good luck, dude!
I wish
Pat was still there! I thought maybe the skins would pick him up, the I’m glad the dolphins will. I hope he gets his chance!
I’ll be getting a dolphins Slaton jersey.

Stay healthy Steve
I assume he must have passed a physical to get signed by the Dolphins. Hopefully, Steve can avoid nagging injuries that kept him off the field. Best wishes.

My thoughts are that this doesn’t change my opinion about Steve Slaton, the Mountaineer, at all. He could be cut tomorrow or make the Hall of Fame, and I’ll only care about his 3 years in Morgantown.
Breaking those TD's against Georgia in 05
Was one of my favorite WVU memories. Right up there with “Like a runaway beer truck!”.

I hate to say it...
But this isn’t the best move for Stevie for numerous reasons…
1. Dolphins passing is horrendous, so all you have to do is load up the box and stop them.
2. This is still a crowder back field and Thomas is their feature back. Bush is their “third down” option and Steve and Reggie are similar in stature and running style. They aren’t going to give it to Steve when they are paying Reggie 9.75 per
3. Ball security still has to be an issue lingering in the minds of the Dolphins OC. Slaton has had issues (in college and the pros) holding on to the ball and that is a fact that can’t be ignored.
What it comes down to is OBVIOUSLY many teams would want to take a chance on a back who only costs them $550k. I compare this situation to when my AFC EAST LEADING Buffalo Bills cut Aaron Maybin at the end of training camp this year. Everyone with the Bills organization saw no need for him and the Jets picked him up for the veteran league minimum. I hope this isn’t the case for Steve but be my guest and check the Jets roster for Maybin now, it didn’t work out too well…
Let’s GO Mountaineers!
Let’s GO Steve Slaton (except against the Bills!)
