between Tranghese and Swofford would totally be worth 50 bucks. I would put my money on Mr. Big East.

is EXACTLY why the Big East is in the position it is. Listen to him…..“we kicked their butt in basketball”…like that sport matters among most teams in this country.
It’s not about basketball….it’s not about “academic standing” (that means even less than basketball)…it’s not about how competitive your team is (in fact, that could be a hindrance)….it’s not about wishing your way into a conference (which many WVU fans, including myself, were doing on Sunday morning)
It’s about the $$, first and foremost, and why we’re about the 4-5th wish for the SEC right now, according to twitter and Tuscaloosa writer.

Except for that it bars us completely from joining the ACC. Your main point still stands. It’s about the bottom line, and the bottom line is based on football.

that’s not what is preventing us from ACC….We offer NO population (except peripherally, Pittsburgh) therefore no TV sets and no recruiting advantages. They are simply reiterating the “academic standing” as the reason for expansion, which everyone knows is the case. I watched Tranghese on OTL and he said that he’s been in the midst of these conversations and it’s ALL about the money and nothing else.

what I’m hearing. I’m certainly not in the complete know, but come on.. WVU is certainly more attractive money wise than a Connecticut, who they will end up adding. Academic standing does have an effect. It’s not the only one and it’s certainly not the strongest one, but when they have other schools to choose from that meet their criteria in that regard, we get passed over.
