I think this quote from that article might also be a little prophetic....
“Stew was a very volatile guy,” [Steeler’s HC Mike] Tomlin told the Daily Press of Newport News, Va. “He was high-strung. It wasn’t out of the ordinary for him to get upset or excited at practice.”

Bill Stewart's Loyalty - to whom?
We hear so often about Stewart’s loyalty to West Virginia. But if the allegations are true, it goes to show his true loyalty was not to the state and the university, but to the particular group of cronies who ensconced him as Head Coach. With Pastilong, Garrison, Manchin, et al, now departed, we can see exactly how interested Stewart is in putting WVU’s interests at the top of his priorities.
It isn’t loyalty when you seek to undermine your boss and your colleagues to save your own skin. It’s naked self-interest; the same quality for which we all criticized RichRod so harshly three and a half years ago.
fyi
stews loyalty is to stew. it seemed to me that it was a given that the guy was going to be associated with the program in some form or fashion during the press conf introducing DH. if your loyalties were to wvu, and wvu was the only D1 school you wanted to work for wouldnt you take that, be glad you had a job on the back burner, and try and go out in style? his ego cant take playing second fiddle to anyone, i wonder if the same thing happened at that D2 school he was coaching at back in the day.
