Should the BE be Odd or Even?

As I sit here waiting for my next brew ( somewhat slow arriving by the way), I find myself pondering whether the Big East should have an even or odd number of teams in the conference. Coaches have long decried that the even number of teams, we now have, leads to unbalanced home and away schedules  (4 one year and 3 the next). Adding TCU will solve that complaint, but the powers that be seem intent on adding another team. Should they do so, the problem will pop up again. Of course, the conference could split into two divisions of 5 and 5 (an odd number) and by picking up an even number of teams from the other division keep a balanced schedule.  That would leave some team, or teams, that we would not play each year in the conference (that seems odd).

Excuse me if I neglect going into scenarios of adding 11 to 16 teams (my brew appears to be arriving). I will now turn my thoughts to deciding whether or not I would like a cold beer at halftime, on a hot steamy, September, Saturday afternoon. Even I, would find it odd if I have trouble making that decision. After all, it should be a personal decision, shouldn’t it?
