The Shotgun/Throwdown: UConn Hangover (3/3/11) Edition
Welcome, By-Godders, to the Shotgun/Throwdown, WVU's nationally recognized best place for sports links, information, sophomoric humor and daily distractions. We're being brought to you today by Matilda Bay Dogbolter, in honor of today's Miss Throwdown.
Great game, great win and a great atmosphere last night at the WVU Coliseum. Yes, the referees were terrible (what's new?). Even the guys over at The UConn Blog thought we were getting hosed there. The other moment of disappointment was when the students tried to storm the court again (thankfully security stopped them). Last night's victory went a long way to solidify WVU's Big East Tournament seeding in the top half of the rankings. While it didn't completely lock in a top 8 finish (there are some weird tie breakers still in effect if a loss happens this coming Saturday against Louisville), it erased any lingering doubt if this was a NCAA tournament team and solidified a higher seed there. In football news, WVU had a press luncheon yesterday to sort of kick off spring drills in a few weeks. There's lots of coverage of that today as well.
If you have any tips, suggestions or requests for content that you think is worth sharing, you can send them to me by email or Twitter and don't forget to "LIKE" the Smoking Musket MAIN PAGE on Facebook (follow this link, then hit "LIKE" at the top of the page). Many thanks to those who already "LIKE" us. We now stand at 669 (we lost it again, damn). 700 is looming in the distance, but it's in sight. Please, spread the word!! Lot's to cover after the jump...
