One of our
defensive lineman made the 1st team defense??!!!!!!
How in the hell can that be justified?
Stedman Bailey isn’t on the 1st team?
Both of those are an absolute farce.
Why would Geno win offensive player of the year?
Because he put up a lot of yards? In watching the games, never did I think I was watching the conference’s best overall player. Now, Stedman Bailey? He has a legit beef.

yeah i guess
breaking virtually every school and conference single season passing record is not note worthy at all

in this instance
it is not. I’d love to see a poll to see if even WVU fans think Geno should be POY. There were many times during the season when numerous people said he regressed from earlier in the season. That’s not debatable.
APB raises a legit point.
But Pead? C’mon. He wasn’t the best player on his own team (Collaros was), or the leading rusher overall or in conference play (McCombs for both).
It’s tough for a WR to win OPOY, I get that. That’s why I’m OK with it not being Stedman. But both Geno and Stedman are more deserving than Pead.

Pead
Wasn’t even the leading rusher in the Big East.
Bailey
in Big East Play had 741 recieving yards and 8 TDs noone else had over 600 yards and no receiver had more than 3 TD receiving TDs in conference play
Recieving stats in Conference Play
RECEPTIONS/GAME Cl G Rec. Yards TD Long Avg/C Avg/G Rec/G
1. AUSTIN, Tavon-WVU JR 7 54 573 3 39 10.6 81.9 7.7
2. SANU,Mohamed-RUT JR 7 50 552 3 31 11.0 78.9 7.1
3. LEMON, Alec-SYR JR 7 41 566 3 58 13.8 80.9 5.9
4. BAILEY, Stedman-WVU SO 7 40 741 8 84 18.5 105.9 5.7
I think this list is legit
I too think Bailey would have been a better choice for OPOY but that’s because I think he made the play of the year.
I also think Bruce Irvin made 1st Team on name alone. Kind of like when Rafeal Palmeiro won a gold glove even though he DH’d all year.

Bruce also drew A LOT of attention this year
getting double and sometimes triple teamed…it isn’t always about sacks and tackles
One of our defensive lineman
got triple teamed? I find that difficult to believe. Do the other 2-3 linemen suck THAT bad?
Longer post coming in 15 minutes.
I think the beef over OPOY is over who actually did win it (Pead) not being deserving, and the beef over the First team WR is over who didn’t get it (Bailey), rather than a beef over who did get it (Sanu and Austin are both good). If that makes sense.

Surprised? Why?
Take a look at who won awards and whose team is staying (stuck) in the BE. Austin won on Special teams only because there was nobody in the cinference within 200 yards of him as a return specialist.

Really? Is the state of OL play that bad in the conference?

Did you see the stats that Big East DLs racked up this year?

I haven't looked
but it seemed to me that the WVU OL made every opposing DL look like the ’85 Bears.
Looking again, how do two OLmen from Syracuse make the first team all-BE offensive team? The all-BE OL looks like a completely random selection.

I think picking OL has to be difficult.
If you have one great lineman and 4 bad ones, the entire line looks bad even though one player may be great. My point with the DL stats was that there appeared to be a ton of good DLs in the league this year. Now, whether the DLs were so good they made the OLs look bad or the OLs were so bad they made the DLs look good is certainly up for debate.
