West Virginia Mountaineers Will Represent The Big East In The Orange Bowl

As most expected, West Virginia University's football team will be heading to Miami to play in the 2012 Discover Orange Bowl for the first time in school history and will face the Clemson Tigers on Wednesday, January 4th. Any remaining suspense was eliminated when the Orange Bowl website started selling WVU/Clemson merchandise earlier this evening. So it will be Dana Holgorsen vs. Dabo Swinney and Geno Smith vs. (former Mountaineer commit) Tajh Boyd. And based on the bit of the ACC Championship game I watched last night, WVU will face yet another impressive defensive line come early January.

Sugar Bowl: Virginia Tech vs. Michigan

Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma St. vs. Stanford

Rose Bowl: Oregon vs. Wisconsin

BCS Championship Game: Alabama vs. LSU

I am remiss at not getting the Choakies, but should be a good game. Let’s all hope the offensive line can bring a game like they did against LSU. The Tigers defensive line is for real.

If the Crimson Tide lost to a 6-6 Vandy team.

No way we would even have been considered for the BCS title.So OK State needs to deal with it. A mediocre Iowa State beat them.And a boatload of us really wanted WVU to the SEC,so dont be hating.

Wait, what?

Is there a website that explains/justifies these match-ups in particular terms? To which I refer to that sugar-coated shitsicle the BCS calls the Sugar Bowl. How in the heck did VT and Michigan get in there?

Alabama/LSU…fine. I get it. You can make the argument that OSU should be in, but they should never have lost to Iowa St. and there would be no debate had they won that game. I’m personally not interested in a rematch but it is deserved.

This game against Clemson does concern me. I’m not entirely sure it is going to be pretty.

The Sugar Bowl should be ashamed of itself for taking the Hokies over more deserving candidates Boise State and Kansas State. What did Virginia Tech do to deserve its bid? It played three games against ranked teams – and lost two of them, by a combined 48 points. The lone victory was against Georgia Tech, a team that was No. 21 at the time but resides well outside all top 25s now. Aside from the Yellow Jackets, here’s who the Hokies beat to earn their bid: Appalachian State, East Carolina, Arkansas State, Marshall, Miami, Wake Forest, Boston College, Duke, North Carolina and Virginia. They beat nobody ranked higher than 45th in Jeff Sagarin’s computer ratings.

Sugar Bowl should be boycotted. Go to Hell VPI.

No one is insulting

you or your program at all. Alabama is outstanding. But despite Okie State’s embarrassing loss to ISU, they beat a shit ton of ranked opponents, and Alabama beat 1 or 2? Lost to LSU at home… in an awesomely defensive game, but people don’t tune in to watch a battle of the defenses. ’Bama had their chance and blew it at home. They definitely deserve a BCS slot, but not a NCG slot.

No one is denying Bama’s skill or credibility. Just the fucked up system. If Okie State hadn’t absolutely blown out the Sooners, then maybe I wouldn’t be as upset. But they showed they have what it takes.
