Big East Basketball Blogger Roundtable: All Big East Team, Player Of The Year

Stay connected for news and updates

The folks over at the St. John's blog Rumble in the Garden continued their Big East Blogger Roundtable series a couple weeks ago with the All Conference/Player of the Year post (recapped below).  Check back later in the week to see our review of other Big East Blogger Roundtable posts.  The WVU football team was busy losing to getting obliterated by Syracuse's tight ends at the time, so you very well may have missed the posts.  Fret not, as we're here to recap them.

Not surprisingly, the all-league first team and POY mirrored the coaches' picks:  Pitt's Ashton Gibbs edged UConn's Jeremy Lamb for preseason POY.  Both of them were joined on the first team by Marquette's Darius Johnson-Odom, Syracuse's Kris Joseph, Notre Dame's Tim Abromaitis, and WVU's Kevin Jones.

My preseason team (we could pick 5) included all the above except Abromaitis, who I think is overrated.  I picked Lamb as my preseason POY based on this logic:

Lots of people are picking Ashton Gibbs, but I can't bring myself to pick a Pitt player, so I'm going with Jeremy Lamb, who should step into the spotlight with Kemba Walker gone.

Agree or disagree?  I think it's obvious the coaches modeled their voting after mine, but fee free to leave snark and disputes in the comments.
