College Football Open Thread: October 15, 2011

It sure does suck having an open week, doesn't it?  Without a WVU game to tailgate for and talk about today, some of us have a chance to get caught up on errands, clean the house, and spend time with family and friends.  The rest of us degenerate college football fans have nothing better to do than sit in front of our TV and watch whatever games are on.  So in that vein, we bring you the first Open Thread of the 2011 season.  There are a few games of interest today, including:

Early Games

#11 Michigan at #23 Michigan State (-2.5) - Noon, ESPN

#20 Baylor at #21 Texas A&M (-9) - Noon, FX

Utah at Pitt (-7) - Noon, ESPNU

Louisville at Cincinnati (-17) - Noon, BigEast Network

Afternoon Games

Navy at Rutgers (-4) - 2:00

#1 LSU (-15.5) at Tennessee - 3:30, CBS

#6 Oklahoma State (-7.5) at #22 Texas - 3:30, ABC/ESPN

Ohio State at #16 Illinois (-4) - 3:30, ABC/ESPN

USF (-8) at UConn - 3:30, BigEast Network

Evening Games

Florida (-2) at #24 Auburn - 7:00, ESPN

#17 Kansas State at Texas Tech (-3) - 7:00, FSN

#18 Arizona State at #9 Oregon (-16) - 10:15, ESPN

Plenty of action out there today that may be of interest to WVU fans.  If Michigan State can...upset?...Michigan, WVU could jump another spot in the rankings.  The same upset alert applies to Oklahoma State and Oregon, as well as a few ranked teams on the road against unranked teams, all in the ACC (Virginia Tech at Wake Forest, Georgia Tech at Virginia, and Clemson at Maryland).  Pitt and Rutgers have nonconference games where losses could further tarnish the Big East's reputation, so count on Pitt to lay its typical egg there. Cincy, Louisville, USF and UConn are all jockeying for early position in the conference race.  Ohio State could fall below .500 for the first time in forever if it can't upset Illinois in Champaign, and Arizona State and Oregon should put on an offensive show if you can stay awake for the late game.  So as you watch games today, be sure to leave your comments, quips, thoughts, insults, jokes, questions, etc. in the comments.
