The Shotgun/Throwdown: Tuesday (9/21/10) Edition

Hurrica2_medium

Welcome, By-Godders, to the Shotgun/Throwdown, WVU's nationally recognized best place for sports links, information, sophomoric humor and daily distractions.  We're being brought to you today by Hurricane Reef Caribbean Style Pilsner, in honor of today's Miss Throwdown.

Between SBNation crashing and our internet at work being spotty, I'm a tad bit vexed at this point.  I would have had this posted by 9 am if not for the technical issues.  Anywayyyy...Focus here today is almost completely on LSU.  I've even got some good notes and articles from the enemy camp.  If you have any tips, suggestions or requests for content that you think I should share, you can always send them to me by email or Twitter.  See you after the jump...

Look for it at 1 pm.

I like to wait until Tuesday as well, just to let people cool off a little more from the game on Saturday.

Greetings

Good stuff. I think my productivity just went out the window for the next hour with all these links. How do you expect your offense will attack this game? Do y’all rely on dropping back and scanning the field, hort quick passes, a mixture? When I look at what can beat us and what isn’t likely to work, I would expect teams to move towards quick, safe passes, throwing to the tight end over the middle, mix in a power rushing game, and conde third and longs. Some fans still aren’t sold on our OLB’s ability to cover TEs and RBs, but this defense is very dangerous if they get an obvious passing situation so one ineffecient play puts the offense in a very bad spot. So, IMO, if WVU wins this, it’s because they moved the ball will be with consistency, and the offensive line opens up holes to utilize your backs. Do that and you avoid the turnover and control the game. This game will show our fans whether or not we can compete for the SEC title. IMO, only Florida and Alabam are more talented on our schedule.

Really looking forward to seeing Noel Divine. I haven’t gotten to watch him very frequently. Glad this is a home and home as well. The neutral site games really bother me. College football games should be played at school’s stadiums. It gives me an excuse to go to West Virginia next year and see another school’s facilities and traditions. Drives me nuts that we’re going to play Oregon and I don’t get to see a game at their stadium.

typo

concede third and longs. That goes for both teams, actually. Draw play or screens.

We haven't looked like much of a big-play offense so far this year.

Mullen’s MO is to try to pick up 4 yards on every play. He does that in the passing game by throwing short passes to Sanders and Austin and letting them try to shake free. You won’t see much TE, though.

I agree about teh turnovers and controlling the game. I think that’s a huge key for WVU.

Joe Alexander

Good for him.

I was waiting for some team to sign him. It is too early in his career for him to be given up on. He’s a slow learner when it comes to things on the basketball court, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him make a leap this year, although the injury last year might knock his development back a half of year.

It will certainly help that he signed with a team that is weak at the three position and has a great point guard. I hope he sticks with the Hornets and is given a chance to get out on the break with Paul. That would be fun to watch.

I thought reason 1-577 why Schiano wasn't getting the PSU job when Patreno dies is

because he sucks, and has used the same slogan since the has been there
