The Shotgun/Throwdown: Tuesday (8/3/10) Edition

Lisbon_medium

Welcome, By-Godders, to the Shotgun/Throwdown, WVU's nationally recognized best place for sports links, information, sophomoric humor and daily distractions.  We're being brought to you today by Tagus, in honor of today's Miss Throwdown.  Side note:  While looking for a Tagus image, I came across THIS.  I can't tell if it's a joke, disturbing or a PSA.  Anybody know Portuguese?

It's getting close.  I can almost taste it.  Media Days are well under way and camp will be open by this time next week.  If you have any tips, suggestions or requests, you can send them to me by email or Tweet me.  See you after the jump...

so Memphis may join the Big East

holy crap the BE is being proactive for once I didn’t know they boys up in Providence could do that. Now who is going to be the other team to join ECU, Navy, UCF, Marshall(that will never happen), Troy, Western Michigan, Toledo, Ohio U, ’Nova. Who is it going to be

Players who should be in the Hall of Fame: Pat TIllman, Dwight White, Donnie Shell, L.C. Greenwood, Ray Guy, Steve Tasker, Greg Llyod, Andy Russel, Cris Carter, Kevin Greene and Jerry Kramer

Im not sure

that adding any of those teams is really good for the Big East…In my opinion i feel like they are thinking about adding those teams because they feel like theyre obligated to do something with all the expansion talk that was happening this yr. But im not sure that adding mediocre D-II (or whatever it is called these days) schools is going to do anything to help the Big East other then give the league more teams.

Columbus or The 25314

write that letter to HCBS.

Leave no doubt tonight! Leave no doubt tonight! No doubt! They shouldn't of played the Old Gold'n Blue.

Wasn't me

I’ve calmed down quite a bit…..It’s kind of like paying taxes.

You know you’ve got to pay them, so why get excited.
You know we’ll underachieve, so why get excited.

BTW, how is PITT ranked above WVU??? From a pre-season standpoint, our team has gotta be the frontrunner don’t they? One of our only questions is going to be WR depth and QB, which admittedly is a big question……This is the year that Stewart silences me? Perhaps.

by WVUColumbus on Aug 3, 2010 12:09 PM EDT up reply actions

I take that (Pitt being picked) as a good thing

When was the last time the media picked correctly for football? Miami? VT?

by WVUIE97 on Aug 3, 2010 1:10 PM EDT up reply actions

2007

Picked WVU and we split it with UConn. Before that, I’m guessing 2004 (picked WVU, split with Pitt, Syracuse, BC), 2003, and 2002.

Side note (above) research

it appears to be some sort of dark humor…the top is fairly easy to decipher and the bottom says “Macho Pride” for anyone else who wondered

by WVUIE97 on Aug 3, 2010 11:08 AM EDT reply actions

If you're looking for someone to show off...

I’m pretty sure that the portuguese says something to the effect of “1 in 5 portuguese women is a victim of domestic violence.” Not sure about the macho thing though.

by Country Roads on Aug 3, 2010 9:04 PM EDT reply actions

found a Port/Eng dictionary

it definitely says “Macho Pride”

by WVUIE97 on Aug 3, 2010 9:19 PM EDT up reply actions

Wow.

Guess you were spot on with “disturbing.”

by Country Roads on Aug 4, 2010 1:20 PM EDT up reply actions

Translation of Tagus image

1 in 5 Portuguese women are victims of domestic violence.

Only the madman is absolutely sure.
