The Shotgun/Throwdown: Tuesday (7/13/10) Edition

Gedc1655_5b1_5d_medium

Welcome, By-Godders, to the Shotgun/Throwdown, WVU's nationally recognized best place for sports links, information, sophomoric humor and daily distractions.  We're being brought to you today by Mahou Clásica, in honor of today's Miss Throwdown.

Summer keeps on rolling along.  Only a few more weeks until FB camp opens.  I've got all of the usual coverage and fun inside for your enlightenment and pleasure.  A few more FB season ticket packages went on sale today and so did EA's NCAA Football '11.  There's a couple reviews inside, but I'm more interested in your opinions before I break down and get one for myself.  If you do pick up a copy, please leave your review in the comments section.  Any tips, suggestions or requests, can always be sent to me by email or Twitter.  See you after the jump...

Miss Throwdown:

Today's Miss Throwdown is a Spanish sportscaster and WAG to a member of the victorious Spanish World Cup team.  Here's one that puts Erin Andrews to shame, Sara Carbonero (and don't judge by the header picture in the link).  Those eyes kill me!  Viva España!

How appropriate you picked Sara on a WVU blog

Her last name translates from the Spanish as “coal miner”.

And yes, those eyes slay me too.

Should be a sportscaster for HDN sports

Could cover women’s mud wrestling, lingerie bowl, certain women’s tennis—hot Russians, certain women’s golf—Gulbis, Creamer, ect.

I bought NCAA 11 last night at midnight

The game is absolutly amazing. Everything about the game is different. Devine is an absolute beast to play with. One juke and he’s off to the races. Defensively it’s a little harder to get tackles with your player, meaning not changing players to make a tackle. Mainly because of the new assignment blocking. All in all a great game. Only dissapointment was that we weren’t ranked. Any questions about the game feel free to ask.

Just Curious

How many games has everyone been to in person that are on MSNSportsnet’s Top 30 list? I was born in 1981 and haven’t always lived in West Virginia, but I feel like I’m doing pretty well:

29: USF 2008
24: Maryland 2004
23: Ohio State 1998
20: Rutgers 2006
19: Pitt 1997
18: Pitt 2003

I’m sure some of you can beat me. Any good stories from these games to share??

I remember the 1998 Ohio State game quite well. Our tickets were my birthday present that year (the game was played on my birthday), which we bought for $150 each. It was a huge deal to me because I lived in Columbus at the time and wanted nothing more than to be able to brag to all the uppity OSU fans. I also tried to buy some guys “Amos 3:16 – 100% Whoop Ass” Stone Cold Steve Austin rip-off shirt for like $20, but he refused to sell it to me. We sat in the southwest corner above the tunnel. And I was never more frustrated than when we had a chance to recover a fumble on the 2nd half kickoff and couldn’t come up with the ball. I always felt like the game would have changed if we had got the bal and scored there. As it turns out, as good as that OSU team was, WVU had more good pro players.

Once The List Is Complete...

one of you should post that. I have been to a bunch of them…just saw that Pitt ’89 is No. 13. Not proud to say it, but I got in a fistfight in the Blue Lot after that one. I was young, stupid, full of piss, vinegar, and beer. And I was 19…ah the memories. I hate Alex Van Pelt to this day…

Now is the time boys to make a big noise.
No matter what the people say,
For there is naught to fear, the gang's all here,
So hail West Virginia, hail.
