The Shotgun/Throwdown: Tuesday (4/20/10) Edition
Welcome, By-Godders, to the Shotgun/Throwdown, WVU's nationally recognized best place for sports links, information, sophomoric humor and daily distractions. We're being brought to you today by Dancing Camel American Pale Ale, in honor of today's Miss Throwdown (the dancing part, not the camel part...get your minds from out the gutter).
Kind of quiet today, except the Big 10 expansion discussion. It almost seems like most of the conference commissioners are holding their collective breaths and tongues and are just waiting to see what happens. I'm still not sure how I feel about any conference at this point (for FB at least). We'll just have to watch and see what happens. Email your tips, suggestions and requests or Tweet me. See you after the jump...

Today's Miss Throwdown is best known for her dancing on So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing With the Stars. With those legs (and the entire package for that matter), I think she should be better known. Here's Chelsie Hightower.

Does Anyone Else Have A Problem...
…taking the Syracuse blog seriously. I mean, with a name like Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician. That would be like if you guys had taken some middling, but popular player and named the blog after him. It wouldn’t be quite the same if I were coming to visit Gansey Is A God, or Khori Ivy Catches Everything….
…Notice the only school they think fits academically? Hilarious…
Now is the time boys to make a big noise.
No matter what the people say,
For there is naught to fear, the gang's all here,
So hail West Virginia, hail.
that's the point, and it makes it funnier(IMHO)
and the graphic originally came from a Michigan State site
Don't Judge
a book by it’s cover. You should know that as a West Virginia fan.
Agree
TNIAAM is probably the best single-school blog out there, at least that I have read. Their writers are funny and intelligent. And self-depricating, which I find to be likeable.

I Do Think They Have Good Authors...
…I just think it is a name that was born of a certain time and will look sillier as the years since Nunes was at Syracuse pass. Also, it must suck for Nunes, since his name has kind of been hijacked by the site. If you Google him, all you get is the Syracuse blog. Then again, maybe he loves it…otherwise he might just fade into oblivion like so many other ex-college athletes.
And come on CR…the best single-school blog out there is the one for which you write, IMHO.

Ha, thanks JP.
I actually think they do a better job than we do, with the lone exception of WVUIE’s Throwdown post. But maybe that’s just because I read their blog more objectively so I appreciate the writing more.
I get what you’re saying with Nunes. I guess to me, the obscurity of it is what makes it good/funny. I’m not even sure who a comparable WVU athlete would be…Wes Ours?

Nah, Wouldn't It Have To Be Someone....
…that some fans loved and some fans despised. How about Chad Johnston?

Yeah, Well...
…me. In the spirit of full disclosure, when I had my first job out of college as a sportswriter I covered him at Peterstown High School. He was a great kid…

I've seen him post on BGN
was in Medical School (finished now?) and still follows and cares about WVU religiously…seems like a great guy from the impression I got on his posts (threads of former players), if not the greatest QB
