So if the Big 10 expansion go as planned who does the BE go after

Since it seems that the BE is about to take it up the pooper, what schools do you want to see the BE go after.

Star-divide

My Choices for right now would be UCF, ECU, Central Michigan, Navy and Notre Dame. Schools I be looking for in the future in case something like this happens again are Florida Atlantic or Florida International, which ever gets up to a respectable level first or Villinova.

The reason I want to go after UCF is simple, location, location, location. UCF is in Orlando which is good for both league exposure and USF because now they have a natural rival in the league. ECU again is in a good spot close enough to Raleigh to get that market.  Central Michigan not much there other than they are pretty good at football. Navy, the middies are located in the Washington DC market and tend to have good sports programs, even though they're a Armed Services Academy. Notre Dame, ok of all of these I've listed this could happen if the BE commish grows a set and tells ND to either be in the BE for football and all other sports or be an Indie for all sports instead of just football, which would be crippling for them because you can't schedule a baseball or basketball schedule as an Independent.

Now for the programs I'm looking at in the future, all of them are in a big-market area, FAU is in Boca Raton, FIU is Miami and we all know where Nova is we play them at least once a year in Basketball. Now as I stated these are programs to keep an eye on in the future FAU and FIU have been played D-1A football for about five years, FAU has two bowl games though keeping Howard Schnellenberger's unbeaten streak in Bowl games going, and Nova is in D-1AA, or D-1 FCS, winning the NC in the lower level of D-1.

So there is my choices in case the BE get raided, again. What are some programs you want to see the BE go after in case Big 11 10 expansion does infact occur.

The Big East is finished

Finished

Leave no doubt tonight! Leave no doubt tonight! No doubt! They shouldn't of played the Old Gold'n Blue.

Players who should be in the Hall of Fame: Pat TIllman, Dwight White, Donnie Shell, L.C. Greenwood, Ray Guy, Steve Tasker, Greg Llyod, Andy Russel, Cris Carter, Kevin Greene and Jerry Kramer

If the Big East loses 3 teams, it is probably finished.

That being said, I think UCF, Memphis, and ECU would be the next 3 logical choices due to their location and overall athletic profile. ND and Navy most likely won’t happen, although either would be a great addition. I would love for Villanova to upgrade their football, but it doesn’t look like they have much desire to do that. These are the reasons that the BE is basically a sitting duck right now—-there are just no realistic potential additions.

maybe if the BE commish grew a pair

and told ND to be in the conference for football or face expulsion from th eBE in everything else then they would join, but I don’t see that happening

no incentive for them to

it actually hurts the BE if they leave because of bowl tie ins

I'm with WVUIE on this one.

Although I think 5YS has a good argument that giving a mandate may force them to join the B10, thereby helping protect the BE. However, that may be a moot point at this juncture given the B10’s immenent expansion.

but if they become a Independant in all sports it hurts them

because there is no possible way that you can put together a Basketball or baseball schedule as an indie

They wouldn't go independent in all sports.

For the reasons you mentioned. My point was that you could try to protect the BE in the long run by giving ND the ouster for all sports (and hopefully forcing them to join the B10) and possibly adding a 9th FB member. Or, if you got lucky (which you wouldn’t), the BE would join in FB and completely legitimize the BE. I just think that window has closed now that the B10 is bent on expanding.

To be clear,

If ND joined the B10 in all sports, it would help prevnent them from coming after one of our FB playing members.

now I understand your point

it would help us because it would keep the Big 11 10 from taking on of the BE schools and open a spot for another school to join

Cutch....

I know this is off-topic for WVU’s board, but I haven’t seen you at Bucs Dugout for a while. What is up with Pirates? My lord, are we trying to go for 18 straight losing season in epic fashion, or what. I mean, the Brewers might be decent, but have you seen the combined score in the last four games with them…it’s like 53-4, and we have only scored 12 runs in these last seven straight losses. If ever there was an argument to be made for MLB adopting an EPL model of relegation, the Pirates are making it. I am so disappointed, even as I think the system is really to blame – the Pirates should not be this bad, should they?

And Sad News Out Of Penn State...

I know we were being snide yesterday about the video of (dis) interest, but I am sure fans of the team are in mourning today. My heartfelt condolences. I hate when young lives are inexplicably cut short.
