Notre Dame Could Be Forced To Join A Conference
Swarbrick told reporters Tuesday morning: "You can each come up with a scenario that would force our hand."
Could that scenario be Big 11 expansion grabbing Rutgers and then the Big East finally saying, "Get in, or get out."

one thing I don't understand still
Is the Big 11 10 love affair with Rutgers, I understand the proximity to NYC but whats the point if no one watches a Rutgers game
Players who should be in the Hall of Fame: Pat TIllman, Dwight White, Donnie Shell, L.C. Greenwood, Ray Guy, Steve Tasker, Greg Llyod, Andy Russel, Cris Carter, Kevin Greene and Jerry Kramer
"Its a Great Day to be a Mountaineer where ever you may be" Tony Caridi
Canal Street Chronicles resident Steelers Fan
They feel they can finally get that NYC market.
Leave no doubt tonight! Leave no doubt tonight! No doubt! They shouldn't of played the Old Gold'n Blue.

Conference Re-Alignment
I live in Columbus and in the heart of Big 10 country where the only sports they talk about here is OSU. Today on 1460TheFan, Speilman and his sidekick were discussing the real possibility of Notre Dame joing the conference and if that doesnt work out then Pitt is an overwhelming second choice. This will renew the Pitt-Penn State rivalry and leave us out in the cold with no natural rival. Pitt most likely wont want to play us in their non conference schedule.
What really pisses me off is this…Does the Big East have a Freakin commishner?( I meant to spell it that way, its how I roll ) Is he commishing? What the F is this cat doin? Our conference is on the brink of another raid and if this happens then The Big East will have to disband because its a shitty conference as it is, if we lose anymore then forgetaboutit. Why aren’t the conference officials doing anything to prevent this?
Notre Freakin Dame continues to call the shots. Why? Why are Pitt and Rutgers so freaking attractive and more importantly why ARENT we?
WTF! I’m just a little pissed off.
KEN
Because West Virginia
has NO metro areas. I don’t even think there’s a city in the state that exceeds 80,000. When it comes to conference realignment, we’ll never be included because of the numbers.
Partially right...
I am pretty sure West Virginia only has one “city” and that is Charleston which is barely above 50,000. While we do not bring a huge centralized fan base, there are a lot of people that follow the Mountaineer throughout the nation. There is a reason we have 3 of the top 4 most watched non-saturday college football games in ESPN history. People generally like us.
What does help us with a possible conference realignment is our traveling fan base.
Leave no doubt tonight! Leave no doubt tonight! No doubt! They shouldn't of played the Old Gold'n Blue.

It's just a numbers game
Not bashing you Ken, but ND is a nationwide audience. Rutgers is obvious( see 5yrs comment). Even Pittsburgh, the cesspool it is has the demographic edge (2.3M) over Mo’town (118K). We have everything else, but they got the numbers.
Well, If Notre Dame Goes To Big Tenleven....
…does it trigger a seismic shift? I don’t think so. The big shift only happens if ND decides NOT to go, and the Pitt or Rutgers get plucked instead. I still think, all dollars examined, that it would be a bad move for either of them to leave an Eastern market for a Midwestern one. ND belongs in the Big 10 and the egotistical fuckers should just accept it. My hunch is they will hold on to their indy status for at least the forseeable future to see if Kelly can make them relevant again on the national scene. I suspect he will.
Now is the time boys to make a big noise.
No matter what the people say,
For there is naught to fear, the gang's all here,
So hail West Virginia, hail.
