The Shotgun/Throwdown: Friday (3/5/10) Edition

800x600_medium

Welcome, By-Godders, to the Shotgun/Throwdown, WVU's best place for sports links, information, sophomoric humor and daily distractions; Now nationally recognized!  We're being brought to you today by Bavaria beer, in honor of today's Miss Throwdown.  Yes, another Brazilian.  I know what you're thinking:  "How do you keep doing it?"  Well, some people just have certain talents and this is just one of mine.  And I'm really enjoying doing what I do!

Smiling_cat_bigger_medium

It's the final weekend of pool play in the Big East.  There is an absolute full slate of BE games starting tonight and running through Saturday night.  The men have a big one against 'Nova tomorrow.  If we can win that we'll have the exact same record (both conference and overall).  We'd be assured of a #3 seed and I'm not sure how the tie breakers work, but maybe we can squeeze a #2 finish out of this.  The women get back in action this weekend as they begin their BE Tournament on Sunday evening at 6 on ESPNU.  Tips, suggestions and requests make the best day brighter.  Have a great weekend everybody!!!!  Come inside and see what the fuss is all about...

Let's GOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has always been one of the underrated SI Swimsuit models.

Leave no doubt tonight! Leave no doubt tonight! No doubt! They shouldn't of played the Old Gold'n Blue.

Why didn't Manchin just lobby for the WVU presidency job

He seems to be more interested in running WVU than the state. Next time WVU looks for the next president, I’m going to throw my name into the mix…if I don’t get it…I’ll run for governor seems to work just as well.

Seeds

From what I can tell here’s what can happen:

Syracuse – lock at 1.

Villanova – win and they get the 2. Lose, and they are a 3 only if Pitt loses. If Pitt wins, they are a 4.

Pitt – Win and WVU beat Villanova, 2 seed. Win, but Nova wins, 3 seed. Lose and WVU loses, 3 seed. Lose and WVU wins, 4 seed.

WVU – Win and Pitt loss 2 seed. Win and Pitt win 3 seed. Loss, doesn’t matter if Pitt wins or loses, 4 seed.

Basically, if all are 13-5 it does a mini conference thing, and it goes to head to head. Pitt has that over Nova, knocking Nova out. Then Pitt has tie breakers on WVU, as they are 1-1 , but from what I gather, they then go to the highest seeds and start comparing head to head, which Pitt has been lucky to knock off the higher teams.
But with that, WVU would win over Nova.

So it’s complicated, but the 2 can happen with some help.

And by all means, please don’t just take my word for it. I just did a quick review and comparison. I have been known to be wrong……from time to time.
