Big East Champs!

Tremendous effort against a team that was as good as any at this particular point in time.

Now Huggs has his work cut out for him to keep these guys focused at the #1 goal that was established at the beginning of the season…..and I have full confidence this team will be ready for the challenge ahead!

Feels good to be king. I never thought I’d ever hear “We are the Champions” being played after a WVU big win in my lifetime. I am on Cloud 9 today. Let’s keep it going ’Eers, you have made our state proud.

Great Win..

Great Game. Both Teams were awesome. Another Great Finish. Butler is the man and he needs to keep his clutch for the tourney because there will be 6 teams in front of them trying to knock them down..
Congratulations WVU 2010 Big East(best basketball conference) Champions

All I can say is, SUCK IT every one at ESPN that picked Georgetown

I really can’t stand the people at ESPN that always talk down about WVU since the 2008 Fiesta Bowl didn’t shut them up maybe this will

Players who should be in the Hall of Fame: Pat TIllman, Dwight White, Donnie Shell, L.C. Greenwood, Ray Guy, Steve Tasker, Greg Llyod, Andy Russel, Cris Carter, Kevin Greene and Jerry Kramer

I doubt they'll shut up

but I think ESPN was pretty good to us, really.

I enjoy the fact that Spike Lee was probably unhappy as well. Giving Truck a hard time, then rooting like hell for Georgetown.

I absolutely have no idea where your venom from ESPN comes from....

ESPN televises seemingly every WVU game, the announcers are always highlighting Butler, and their love for the Big East, in general, is sometimes awkward.

This has been the case ever since the Rodriguez/Beilein eras. I think ESPN sorta talks up WVU quite a bit, if anything………negative pub and “talking down” I’ve never seen it.

A lot of WVU fans seem to have this mindset that the world is out to get them and that they’re not respected……perhaps this is an extension of that thought process.

by WVUColumbus on Mar 14, 2010 4:57 PM EDT up reply actions

He may be talking about the fact that...

Everyone going into the game gave us no chance because Greg Monroe was big and Austin Freeman was “too hot.”

I think Digger’s exact quote was, “WVU has NOBODY that contain or guard Greg Monroe.” You probably missed that while listening to the Grease soundtrack during the game.

Leave no doubt tonight! Leave no doubt tonight! No doubt! They shouldn't of played the Old Gold'n Blue.

That or when after the game on SportsCenter the first 3-4 highlights were of Georgetown

I don’t kno what was said after the game because the people I was watching the game with turned on the radio to listen to Tony Caridi

great win for your program and you guys deserve a number 1 seed over syracuse or duke.

I'm all about covering the spread and moneylines. I was building a house, I don't deserve this, deserves have nothing to do with it. Bang. "Unforgiven" I drink your milkshake. I drink it up! "There Will BE Blood"

Syracuse deserved the No. 1 above us

Leave no doubt tonight! Leave no doubt tonight! No doubt! They shouldn't of played the Old Gold'n Blue.

by 5th Year Senior on Mar 14, 2010 7:27 PM EDT up reply actions

Agreed

Syracuse deserved it over us….not Duke. Duke being ranked above Syracuse is even more appalling than Duke being ranked over WVU. The ACC was a very average conference this season w/ Duke being the only upper echelon team.

I feel WVU’s draw is quite difficult. Moreover, Duke was able to draw a somewhat struggling ‘Nova, good Baylor team, reeling Purdue team, etc. Duke EASILY had the best draw of any of the 1s and they should have had the worst draw. If I’m Mike Shashefski, I’m very pleased tonight.

by WVUColumbus on Mar 14, 2010 9:16 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm not so sure about that

I had to re-check the RPI, but I think the selection committee got the seeds right.

Syracuse had a slightly lower RPI than we did, but beat us head-to-head on our home court. Advantage: ’Cuse

Duke had a slightly higher RPI that we did (by 0.003), had a higher win percentage than us, and did not have a significantly worse SOS (we were 3 they were 8). The ACC wasn’t so bad as everyone thought. Advantage: Duke

I do wish the committee had placed us in Duke’s bracket instead of Kentucky’s.

With Apologies To Randy Edsall, The Big East Remains Mostly Harmless

FILE -- This is an Oct. 18, 2008 file photo showing Connecticut corner back Jasper Howard (6) trying to get the crowd into the game during the fourth quarter of an NCAA college football game against Rutgers, in Piscataway, N.J.
