Big Monday Game Thread: Georgetown vs. WVU

326px-georgetown_university_hoya_logo_medium

Ok...so we know Mr. Freeman is out.  Does that make tonight's task easier?  A bit, but I'm not exactly counting on it. What's at stake, for sure, tonight?  Clinching the double bye for the good guys and the Hoyas are trying to clinch a single bye with a shot at the double still in reach.  Let's put this thing away tonight and not look back.  Leave your thoughts below, before, during and after the game.

As always...

One of the officials is Michael Stephens

He’s the skinny black dude who guesses so often you’ll be convinced calls in his area would be better off being made by a random-number generator.

This is an incredibly important game

for so many reasons. It is imperative that WVU begin to play their best basketball beginning tonight. Despite the 1998 Sweet 16 run, it’s important to play very well in the BEAST tourney in my opinion, because this team hasn’t played to its potential, if at all, this season and needs to “get in a groove”.

If this team performs to its capabilities, there are only 2 teams that can beat us in America….Syracuse (2-3 will make Ebanks cry) and ‘Nova (the guards will make Bryant look like he’s back in AAU)

Uh

I hate UK like you can’t believe..

but how the hell do you suggest we match up with them? I’m not saying we can’t beat them, but I think their A game beats our A game, same with Kansas.

Just my two cents.

I like our intensity so far. Thought truck was fouled on his layup but I hope it is a sign the refs are going to let them play

Man, Bilas...

…can suck it.

Now is the time boys to make a big noise.
No matter what the people say,
For there is naught to fear, the gang's all here,
So hail West Virginia, hail.

Da'Sean...

“….with a little kiss….” Raftery, who rocks, should just duct-tape Jay’s mouth shut.

So hail West Virginia, hail.

Good First Half.....

…I say to myself. We’re halfway to that 20 point win we are all hoping for. Notice that G’town doesn’t have the player that spells our weakness: a point guard that can break us down off the dribble.

Now is the time boys to make a big noise.
No matter what the people say,
For there is naught to fear, the gang's all here,
So hail West Virginia, hail.

This is the WVU basketball I expect to see. Wish we could play like this all the time although I realize the level of competition isn’t there

I'd be interested in knowing what the questions were

This is what they said about it:
You are probably used to the Sleeping with the Enemy feature that is published right before games; a segment that sheds insight into Georgetown’s opponents and the traditions of rival fans. Unfortunately, unnamed West Virginia blog decided not to partake in our fun, calling us “yet another rakish Georgetown prick with very little sense of humor.” To be honest, while we weren’t expecting much from the Mountaineer faithful, we are slightly disappointed they could not answer simple questions like who they dislike more – Rich Rodriquez or John Beilein, or even comment on the unruly reputation West Virginia fans have developed over the past few seasons. They obviously did not realize that the questions are an opportunity to respond to stereotypes about the school and that we are throwing them a softball to defend themselves while attack Georgetown at the same time.

Well, Hell....I Lived In DC for 3 years....

…and all I need to tell you is that the Metro doesn’t even go there, because they don’t want “problems.” Which means, that the “integrated” thing you will find in Gtown are the athletic teams. When I moved there I was sort of shocked by this finding…because I identifed the Hoyas with Thompson and Ewing. To sit there, sipping a cappuccino and find that there isn’t a more whitebread place in the US, was well, shocking…to me, anyway….a hick (I prefer Hillybilly) from southern WV.

JP

Where in DC did you live? I was down there for a few years as well. I stayed to the suburbs, like Rockville, Gaithersburg, and Germantown. But I knew the area pretty well.

And I agree with you, Georgetown is not what I was expecting. I had the same line of thought, Ewing, Iverson, Big John.

YAY! A big win

for the double-bye. Although I’m still not entirely sure that’s necessarily a good thing.

There are no blowouts with this team.

Yet again, we just seem to get the job done. Honestly, I never felt like the outcome was in doubt. Loved the energy in the first half, then we let up. I’ll take the double bye. Hopefully we can steal a W at Nova on Saturday and sneak into second place.

Last night's game

was a disappointing ending to a fantastic beginning.

Yes he would

If you look up hypercritical in the dictionary, you would see a picture of WVUColumbus

Leave no doubt tonight! Leave no doubt tonight! No doubt! They shouldn't of played the Old Gold'n Blue.
