Butler is one of the best players in the country, even though he rarely gets the attention for it.

Dont listen to him

Stay here and rock out.

Leave no doubt tonight! Leave no doubt tonight! No doubt! They shouldn't of played the Old Gold'n Blue.

Those are new.

I would’ve noticed something that ugly before now.

Talking about shoes, not girls. It usually takes me a few beers before I start noticing the ugly girls.

Need to slow our roll

Way, way too trigger happy on offense. Slow it down and use our size advantage. We’re playing hard though.

by Dr. Charley West on Feb 8, 2010 7:12 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Is it just me

Or does it not seem like as good an atmosphere tonight, comparative to the magnitude of the game?

Need some perimeter D

Nova’s shooting almost 60% from 3-point distance. The Mounties need to get up into their faces.

They give me heart attacks, but we’re only spotting 11 right now. How far did we get behind the ’Cuse?

Gotta watch that shot-clock a little better.

We get into a ball-motion set and end up with a shot-clock violation too often for my tastes.

I guess they're just tired

Shooting from the field is luke-warm, shooting from beyond the arc is cold, and from the foul line is just abysmal. Gotta wake up guys, gotta wake up.

More of the same....

This team reminds me of our football team. All the potential in the world but usually very inconsistent and simply maddening. Sometimes I just don’t understand where our mojo is. Where was Dasean tonight? Why does Ebanks run and hide for quarters at a time? What’s this I heard about Mazzula now having an ankle issue? He is killing me.

by WVU-Atlanta on Feb 8, 2010 9:51 PM EST reply actions

They tried to give it to us and we just would not take it.

Kinda like me in college when this Kappa wanted me real bad but I just would not take it. Man I regret passing it up…

Leave no doubt tonight! Leave no doubt tonight! No doubt! They shouldn't of played the Old Gold'n Blue.

by 5th Year Senior on Feb 8, 2010 10:10 PM EST reply actions

On offense we're 3 against 5

We can’t make Da’Sean do everything. With Ebanks missing foul shots and layups and tip-ins, and Mazz in at point, it looks like we’re too easy to defend. Villinova is not St. Johns, and these long droughts in scoring will bite us again and again.

The guys fought hard and I’m proud of them, but I wanted them to win to have to stay out of the scrum competing for the 4th spot in the BE tournament. I wanted them competing for the championship.

Luckily a bit of time off until Pitt, need that win.

the casey mitchell experiement needs to END now, he sucks something awlful, & Mazzulla has seen his better days…. BRICK CITY…

First of all,

I really do think the Mountaineers COULD make a run at a Final 4, but they won’t.

I have watched closely the past 3-4 national TV games and there are trends, not isolated instances, that will doom us in terms of trying to reach the elusive Final 4.

1. Many games our offense is from offensive rebounding (ie put backs, tips, etc.)
2. I have never seen a WVU team in the past 5-7 years that absolutely refuses to move the ball on offense. There is no crisp passing, quick ball movement, etc. that allows a team to run its offense more effectively.
3. Lack of shooters….this can’t be stated enough. Butler is a good shooter. Sure, Mitchell had a nice night last night but even Whitey had a good game a few games back. No consistency other than Butler (who was off last night)…Ebanks can’t shoot, Jones can’t shoot, and if I ever see Flowers take another 3 then he should lose his scholarship.

I think this WVU team has been unbelievably resilient and they’re fun to watch, for sure. I don’t think they sniff the Final 4 based on these observations, but like Jay Bilas said last night, “If they could shoot the ball, they would be a contender for the Final 4”….especially based on their strong defense and offensive rebounding……I would be elated w/ a trip to the Elite 8 based on what I’ve seen this year.

by WVUColumbus on Feb 9, 2010 8:45 AM EST reply actions

Elite 8 would be great

I don’t see us getting to the sweet 16 with our extended vacations on scoring.

The thing about Ebanks is that he USED to be able to shoot, to penetrate, heck, to hold on to the basketball.
