The Shotgun/Throwdown: Friday (2/5/10) Blizzard Edition

Socal08_dosequisbtgirls_medium

Welcome, By-Godders, to the Shotgun/Throwdown, WVU's best place for sports links, information and daily distractions; Now nationally recognized!  We're being brought to you today by Dos Equis, in honor of today's Miss Throwdown.

I think it's safe to say we all know what the major topic of news will be covered in today's articles.  Like SF1007 said last night, it's a shame that this is the topic and not the domination by our team.  The more I read this morning...I was getting physically ill to my stomach.  This kind of coverage just plain sucks.  The men are back in action tomorrow at St. John's and the women travel to Providence.  Oh yeah, there's a little football game on Sunday as well.  If you're in the blizzard zone (like I am), stay warm and stay safe.  Keep the tips, suggestions and requests coming and have a great weekend.  Here we go...

Let's GOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Stew's Intent Is Clear In That Intelligencer Article...

…Hey Doc….I think Stew thinks you have no honor. Even Stew haters should give him some credit for class.

And I think I deserve a commission for your moniker, Zip.

Now is the time boys to make a big noise.
No matter what the people say,
For there is naught to fear, the gang's all here,
So hail West Virginia, hail.

Recruiting

What is up with Anderson, Finau, and Banks? anyone heard anything.

by WVUDIEHARD1976 on Feb 5, 2010 1:51 PM EST reply actions

Anderson is visiting USC

Still verbally committed to us but not sending in his LOI until he thinks about it more. Finau is in town but not enrolled. Banks LOI has something to do with weather and his parents not signing the right forms.

We shall see

Leave no doubt tonight! Leave no doubt tonight! No doubt! They shouldn't of played the Old Gold'n Blue.

That, my friend, is the $1,000,000 question.

Stew talks about the Banks situation in the video above

in the Recruiting section. (I’ll admit, I haven’t watched it yet)

Here's the latest on Anderson:

from ESPN (http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/tracker/school?schoolId=277&page=briefingroom&season=2010&action=upsell&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fncf%2frecruiting%2ftracker%2fschool%3fschoolId%3d277%26page%3dbriefingroom%26season%3d2010):

Latwan Anderson still with West Virginia but will visit USC

As expected, four-star defensive back Latwan Anderson (Cleveland, Ohio/Glenville) did not mail in his letter of intent on Wednesday.

He told ESPN affiliate Web site EerSports.com, “My situation is, basically I’m searching around to make sure I’m making the right decision. Not searching around to change my mind, but making sure West Virginia is the place.”

“As far as West Virginia, there’s nothing more they can show me to hurt them or to help them,” he added. “And as far as Ohio State, it’s the same thing. Right now, the whole thing is just learning USC, just to compare them to Ohio State and West Virginia. That’s just what I’m doing right now.”

Anderson has tentative plans to make an official visit to USC but it does not appear that Ohio State is still an option.

OSU coach Jim Tressel is unable to comment directly on specific unsigned recruits. However, he was asked if there would still be room in this class for an extra defensive back. (The Buckeyes signed four Wednesday.). “No,” Tressel replied.
