WVU vs. Pitt: MAPOG - Devin Ebanks

Before I do anything else today, I am giving out MAPOG. Granted, the players probably have no clue that we even do a MAPOG, but it is only fair to give them the recognition they deserve for playing a great game last night.

Our guys played their hearts out and captured a huge victory over rival Pitt. Absent two scoring droughts, our guys ran the offense well and found high quality shots. On the defensive side of the ball, Devin Ebanks and everyone else played in your face defense that completely disrupted any offensive rhythm Pitt tried to develop.

Sure, we got sloppy at times, but this was one of our most complete games of the season. Because it was one of the most complete games of the season, I am giving MAPOG to a player that got it done offensively and defensively: Devin Ebanks.

Congratulations to Ebanks for having a great all-around game and being MAPOG. Ebanks' line was 7 points, 16 rebounds, 3 assists and played great on-ball defense.

I’m not going to lie, I really wanted to give it to the Istan-Bull, Deniz Kilicli, but he did not play well enough on the defensive side of the ball. He has soft hands and really soft touch around the basket, and if he listens to Huggs about playing hard D, he could take us to the next level.

Later in the day, we will have a rant about the extracurricular activities and something we can all be proud of, another video by Dougity Dog.

Why not give it to DAY?

don’t get me wrong, Ebanks had an incredible night rebounding and started off well shooting. But Da’Sean Butler WAS the MAPOG no doubt. I know you are always looking for reasons not to give it to DA, but when he deserves it, he should get it.

I could give it to Da every game and I have given it to him multiple times but...

I felt like Ebanks played a complete game. When he wasn’t scoring he was guarding the ball really well and rebounding it extremely well.

Da will get plenty more before the season is over.

Leave no doubt tonight! Leave no doubt tonight! No doubt! They shouldn't of played the Old Gold'n Blue.

Ok, maybe i don't know what i'm talking about....

"Dev got us started off," said Huggins. "He was terrific early and he had 16 rebounds. Plus he guarded Ashton Gibbs, who is pretty good by the way. I thought today Dev was probably our best player."

Way too hyped?

I think quite a few fans have extremely high expectations of Ebanks because of his recruiting hype. I know a lot of people I watch games with expect 15 points 12 rebounds every game. But I don’t think we will see much of that this year. I do think one of the most important things Ebanks does for us is his defense. Remember people, defense wins championships! I’ll take a guy who holds Gibbs to a miserable 2-13 shooting over a guy who scores 15 and lets guys shoot over him.

You're right

Stat comparison

08-09 10.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.9 turnovers and . 8 steals

09-10 11.1 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.2 turnovers and 1 steal

For as much crap as I have given him, those stats show he is still doing pretty damn well this season.

Leave no doubt tonight! Leave no doubt tonight! No doubt! They shouldn't of played the Old Gold'n Blue.
