Sunday Post-Game Hangover: UNLV Edition
Welcome back Brad Starks!! OK, so it was only UNLV. But...BUT...as Charley stated, WVU has been maddeningly playing to the level of competition and this was the first real indication of the proverbial "light coming on" with this team. This was also the highest point total put up by a HCBS team. And, a decent Wisconsin team didn't beat UNLV this bad (just food for thought). This game wasn't the Fiesta Bowl, by any means...but it was a nice start to get back there. Tomorrow starts USF prep on a short turnaround week, so there's not a lot of time to relish this victory. Post-game coverage galore is after the jump.

Even The Naysayers...
…would have to agree that this was a good win.
Playcalling always looks a lot better when you are just superior in talent to your opponent, but I hope that the light bulb is on…we are a pass-first offense, and did anyone else notice how effective we were out of the I with the second and third stringers?
Also, I was impressed with Les Miles’ steel set…the loss to LSU is actually stinging me a little bit more, but it might wind up not looking too bad.
Excited for Thursday! The first non-bowl game I get to attend since 2008! Clearly, the Bulls might have been looking past Syracuse, huh?
Let’s Go.
Now is the time boys to make a big noise.

First time in 30 games we broke 35 points
First time in the Bill Stewar era I didn’t walk away frustrated. Finally, we beat a team the way we are supposed to beat them. Kudos for calling a timeout before halftime to get the ball back and then immediately going deep. I enjoyed that game. We jumped on them early and then poured it on.
Downside was Stewart hitting us with this gem afterward when asked about winning with style:
“I worry about the Master Coach and daily walk. I worry about my bride because she rules the roost at the house. I worry about being a role model for my son. Other than that, I don’t worry. I don’t believe in style points. You have no idea how tough this ol’ kid from New Martinsville is. I will jut my jaw and bow my back. I don’t care about style points. That means nothing to Billy Stewart. Nothing.”
Why can’t he just answer, “I don’t believe in style point.” Why does every answer have to be full of hyperbole, self-adulation, and references to himself in the third person?
Yeah...
That is the kind of hokum I can’t stand…You can only talk like that if you are like, wearing overalls and a straw hat. More specifically, I don’t mind the beginning background statements, but my jaw gets to tensing when I read: " You have no idea how tough this ol’ kid from New Martinsville is. I will jut my jaw and bow my back."
Now is the time boys to make a big noise.

Backfield Studs
I don’t want to read a whole lot into this game, given the point spread and the talent level of the opposition, but I would like to recognize what I feel will be an excellent stable of running backs to take over for Jock and Noel. It’s good to see those guys get some clock time and realize that we definitely have some talent waiting in the wings for next year.
