Awesome.
I never thought they were absolutely essential to winning the Big East, but they sure will make it a lot easier, especially with a brand new QB. Great news.
Maybe I'm not an idiot?
Leave no doubt tonight! Leave no doubt tonight! No doubt! They shouldn't of played the Old Gold'n Blue.

Thanks....
For posting 5YS. Great news. I’m still waiting to see what happens with our coaching staff. Seems to be a lot of rumors but nothing happening yet.

Great News!!!!
Now is the time boys to make a big noise.
No matter what the people say,
For there is naught to fear, the gang's all here,
So hail West Virginia, hail.
Obviously great news. Still disagree that this is a vote of confidence for stew (or that I should base my opinion of the coach based on what the players think) but I will agree that he must not be completely lacking of confidence in the staff. I look forward to a year in which we figure out a way to maximize both of their special talents.

You don't think a little birdy told them they're low-rounders...
Maybe they thought a degree wouldn’t hurt.
I'm excited
Now, if the O-line could just block a little better for them….
Once a Mountaineer, always a Mountaineer.
Maybe
Quinton Spain could help out with that. He looked like a beast in the High School Army bowl on Sat.

Coaching Staff Rumors?
WVU-Atlanta?
What coaching rumors are there? I have been out of the loop for a week. Are we loosing Beatty? Mullen, Castell? thanks

I've heard...
all sorts of silly things. Mainly on Casazza’s sports blog but nothing really credible. I guess I was just referring to the potential loss of Beatty, Seider and a potential replacement for Doc. Heard that Jeff Bowden might be involved. I don’t think that there will be any changes to Mullen, Dave Johnson, Casteel.
by WVU-Atlanta on Jan 11, 2010 11:56 AM EST up reply actions
Seider has been at Marshall since the bowl game.
Lockwood may be going back to UK.
Beatty is staying.
No clue on who will take Doc’s place.
Leave no doubt tonight! Leave no doubt tonight! No doubt! They shouldn't of played the Old Gold'n Blue.

F UK. And also F-CK
Would hate to lose Lockwood. Is he getting a promotion?

Coaching Rumors
Everyone get ready to hate this idea. Since Beatty and Lockwood are the keys to recruiting and great coaches. Fire stew and Mullen. Make Beatty the head coach, and Lockwood the assistant. I know thaey have no experience but hell give them a shot. Beatty came from Appalachian State were they won national championships. Lockwood I think came came from UK. Look at the great offense they had at Appy State. Both of them can get great coaches and recruitors to come to wvu. I like the defense schemes we had in the late 90’s with dunlap. Time for a change why not? cant hurt.
Galloway is from Appy St.
Beatty did some college coaching, but made his name coaching HS in Virginia’s Tidewater area. – Just for clarification.
That is a terrible idea.
Leave no doubt tonight! Leave no doubt tonight! No doubt! They shouldn't of played the Old Gold'n Blue.

If we are talking the late 90’s as in 97-99, you must be confused, because our D was very average. If you mean the 96 D, then you have something.

Devine....
will be turning pro after a fine 3 year career. This report is inaccurate.
He has until Friday to declare.
If my post proves to be false, I will own up. Since you are normally wrong and never admit it, I doubt you will be man enough to do the same.
You really really really want WVU to fail. Keep living the dream.
I guess you are getting this from the same source that said Stew would be fired after three games and that later said he would fired at the end of this season?
Leave no doubt tonight! Leave no doubt tonight! No doubt! They shouldn't of played the Old Gold'n Blue.

isn’t inaccurate……WV Illustrated is inaccurate
Settle down Francis
I was not angry my friend...
just stating the fact that if I am wrong I will admit it and when you are wrong you won’t. No skin off my back either way.

You won't be right or wrong
you didn’t report it….WVIll did.
Actually, I won’t respond if I’m right or wrong.
I have thought and wanted him to stay for a while.
My opinion on that situation will be either right or wrong.
You have never responded the many times you have been wrong before, so why should we expect any less?
Leave no doubt tonight! Leave no doubt tonight! No doubt! They shouldn't of played the Old Gold'n Blue.

coaching
Alright guys here is a question for all of you. Want would you guys like to see happen in Morgantown. I am new to the posting thing. I am a 1976 cancer survivor from the old medical hospital and I am a diehard mountaineer fan. I want to see wvu win a national championship and stay as a top 10 team year in and out. I bleed Blue and Gold. What would you guys like to see happen with coaching and athletic director. Please give me an insight, so I can get envolved with discussions.
Fire Johnson. The rest of the coaching is fine with me right now but many still have a lot to prove.
Pastilong and Parsons need to be gone last year.
Leave no doubt tonight! Leave no doubt tonight! No doubt! They shouldn't of played the Old Gold'n Blue.

Fire....
Stewart, Mullen, Casteel immediately.
WVUDIEHARD1976-You are just like me. You’re not afraid to raise the expectation level of the state’s flagship program to give our state a much needed source of pride and to quiet the irrational stereotypes that consist nationwide. A Top 10 football team, believe it or not, helps quite a bit.
I can’t accept a gradual, slow emergence (that is unlikely to happen) back to Top 10 status that will take 3-5 years. Our facilities are fantastic, our talent is AND HAS been fantastic and the conference (although strong in recent seasons) was weak this season and will be weak in the coming seasons w/ the losses of head coaches in Cincy and Tampa.
The problem is that the person who would fire these three individuals needs fired MORE than they do. If nothing else, Pastilong should be fired for allowing Mike Parsons to keep using the same theme music for all MSN broadcasts…..I tuned into Sirius for a football game in the fall and couldn’t believe that music was still being used…….Seriously though, does anyone know how long that music has been around?
Finally, I would just subscribe to my reasoning…..Don’t get too emotionally attached to WVU football right now, because it’ll simply add to hypertension, gastric conditions, and negatively affect cardiac function……Treatment? Watch WVU b-ball. At least they have a shot at the elusive NC.
Can you say something positive about WVU football? Anything?
You point out all the problems. How about offering a solution. Who is WVU going to hire? How are they going to pay their salary? How are they going to keep them around when a better offer comes along? How about assistants? Who should we go out and get? How do we lure them away from whatever jobs they already have?
As for your other typical nonsense….
Sagarin ranked the BE the 2nd best conference THIS SEASON behind the SEC. If you have a better way of evaluating conference strength, I’d love to hear it.
How do you KNOW that USF and Cincy will be bad after losing their coaches? I think Jones did well at CMU and Skip Holtz is the leading candidate at USF…he may well be better than Leavitt. Not to mention UConn returns just about everybody and should be good and Marrone and Strong can only improve at Cuse and Louisville. But hey, that’s all opinion. You state it as fact. I’m not sure what kind of work you’re in, but if things are that definite, you’ve got it a lot better than the rest of us who actually have to deal with variables and unkowns.
Finally, your comment about the music is laughable at best. Maybe to some it sounds cheesy, but to others it’s traditional and nostalgic. How about CBS’s intro music for college football and basketball…it’s been the same since the 80’s. Hey, let’s change the National Anthem while we’re at it. That POS has been the same since 1931.

Technically, the first step is admitting there is a problem. There is no solution without a problem. Also, pastilong is paid 6 figures a year to figure out solutions. But he doesn’t even recognize there is a problem… Am I talking about football or drinking?

Also...
1. It’s not your state anymore. You live in Ohio. They can keep you.
1a. If you are counting on WVU football to make you feel better about your life and your state, or to make you feel like others think highly of either, you’re in a sad state of affairs.
2. You can’t accept a “gradual, slow emergence back to top 10 status”? I guess I shouldn’t expect much else in this microwave society where everybody WANTS TO HAVE EVERYTHING AND THEY WANT IT YESTERDAY, DAMMIT. I hate to think what you must have been like as a toddler.
3. I’d venture that your hypertension, gastric conditions and cardiac function are more accurately attributed to the individual “fan” than to any fault on behalf of the WVU football team. My advice? Simply enjoy WVU football for what it is—-a game. No sense getting all worked about about something you can’t control.

I Despise Just About Everything WVUColumbus Says....
…he’s like the bad-guy stereotype you see in sports movies that is almost too impossible to believe…you know, the deposed coach in “Hoosiers,” the bitch owner in “Major League,” Don Johnson in “Tin Cup,” Ted Knight in “Caddyshack,” and lest I forget an actual football movie, the new coach of Notre Dame, Dan Devine, in that Irish puff piece/unfair recruiting tool, “Rudy” (interestingly, the same douche that played the deposed HC in Hoosiers…I guess he had the "douche-y guy " role locked up back then the way Chris Messina does now…)
….I mean…come on…THE Big East Conference WAS NOT WEAK THIS SEASON!!!! Shit like this makes me shout…sorry, but back it up with some numbers if you believe it was, but just don’t blurt out an assertion because you think it sounds true and expect it to be so…and whatever numbers you come up with (there aren’t many, I already checked), compare them with those from the last five seasons versus any of the BCS conferences. I triple dog dare you.
This is the guy, our esteemed WVUColumbus, who recently accused me of being Tony Caridi, which I find hilarious, and most of you would, too, if you knew me…which, for Cbus, seems to be a standard fall back position. When confronted with someone like me (read, in his terminology, “homer”), just accuse him of being someone else, preferably notorious, famous, or already employed by WVU, whom he thinks is in a position to favor the program. I can’t speak for other posters like 5YS, IE97, CR, or even WVUSouth (whom I think is the sanest poster here and I don’t think has ever made an argument that wasn’t well-reasoned), but I would hope that they would agree with me when I say that we, as posters in this forum, are fans of the program, and beyond that, reasonable fans with reasonable expectations. We are not a bunch of neophyte babies that think every year is THE year. That doesn’t happen…in business, or sports, or life, or anything! Some years are going to be good, and some years are going to be bad…and what I think this spoiled lot of fans doesn’t realize is that WVU has not been “bad,” as in losing record, very often in the last 29 years. We’ve had 4 losing seasons since 1980, only one in the last decade. If you think that sucks, go back and compare it with just about any of the “name” progams and you will see that it stacks up in Top 15 fashion.
And exactly where did some fans of this program get the idea that we are supposed to compete for a national title every year? That is not realistic for ANY program. The only guy that brought us to that precipice, twice, had planes flying over the stadium with signs attached reading: “……..must go.” I have researched it and posted about it here and elsewhere and it just DOES NOT HAPPEN!!!!! The cycle, for every BCS school since 1998 is pretty much a BCS bowl every four years, or the program can do better. Know what that means? Stewart gets two more years to find out…much to WVUColumbus’ chagrin….
I mean, Cbus divulges here that he hates the MSN music! That kind of says it all to me. Granted, it is not what anyone…anyone…would term “great” music, but it is branded…perhaps he is just young, which is what I would hope since I forgive a lot of douchebaggery when people reveal to me that “they are just 23”…anyway when I hear the MSN theme music and its various United Bank accoutrement, it reminds me of years of sad outcomes, and joyous ones, days that were woulda coulda shoulda disastarous (when we lost in 1991 to Virginia Tech, Chris Gray, God rest his soul, falling one half yard short of vicotry on the game’s last play, and you know what music played on my radio after the game?)…and then days that were exhilirating, where everything just seemed to shine because the miraculous had happened (anyone who listened to Fleming call the comeback against Maryland in 1992 knows what I am talking about, and what music played at the end..I don’t need to tell you). And hey, moron, has CBS changed their music in the last 25 years? I think Letterman has the same theme…uh, how aboutthe ubiquitous Law and Order? Or CSI:Vegas…is that in your consciousness? Hmm….show’s just a few years old and, uh, that’s The Who, right? It’s called “marketing,” and it started for this team when we went to Old Gold pants and Blue pants and introduced the Flying ‘WV’ om the helmet under another coach you probably thought sucked (name: Don Nehlen), even though he built the program you allegedly love, but only on winning days, and only if it is pretty. By the way, let’s tip a glass to Nehlen, who, not for nuthin’, was instrumental in getting most of the four-lane roads that lead into Morgantown built…think about the next time you don’t run into a traffic jam in Fairmont on your way in.
…and what kind of idiotic sentence is “I can’t accept a gradual, slow emergence…back to the Top 10…” What? Your sense of entitlement rivals that of any recruit you have judged elsewhere…
At least there is one thing you are right about, Columbus…just stop watching. Go ahead and stick to basketball. At least the sane and competent among us will only have to deal with your vomit for half the college athletic season, and maybe not even that, because somehow basketball doesn’t seem to merit the comment or vitriol that football does. Is that because you admire Huggins? Or fear him? Clearly, you accord the Huggy Bear a level of respect you don’t accord Stewart, which I find funny, because I bet that 60-year old man could beat your ass in a barroom brawl.
Anyway, it makes me sick that you and I pull for the same team. Were I objective, I would root for us to lose just so you would never know joy. Fortunately, my love for the team has nothing to do with you, and I am beginning to wonder why I even come to this site at all. I was a happier fan before the advent of this post-to-post contact with people I wouldn’t give the time of day in a real-world setting.
Kindly send me your address, and I will send along a case of some much-needed Massengill….
…shit….here’s how I know I am not fully evolved – enemas like you can still get my goat…here endeth the rant. Would that I am strong enough for it to be my last.

I have said this a lot but I have learned to just support your argument and move on. We will never convince those that disagree with us but we should at least stand up for what we believe. I believe Stew will turn it around and win a National Championship. Let’s Go Mountaineers!
Besides, you are way smarter than me and make my arguments a lot more logically than I ever could.
